Didn’t like it then, don’t like it now. It sounds juvenile. They’re football players, not a musical group.
Yep, the rapper Juvenile was in the group.

LOL I bet like 95% of the people who hate the nickname have no idea about the obvious origin of it. In the late ‘90s/early 2000s, the Hot Boys were a very popular rap group.

Its fire

Folks showing their age in this thread

Some of us oldtimers are just locked into the 70s and 80s. It used to make me cringe when a youngster came outta the shoot with something other than classic country music playing. I had to remind myself I ain't the one on the back of that rank bull or nasty outlaw. Whatever gets you pumped for battle ain't up to anybody else.

Don't mind the name really. I knew it was a rap group. I would just prefer that they earn a nickname. Otherwise, it's just self serving - they didn't look so hot against the Colts and Rams. Rings hollow now. It isn't up to me, but at least live up to it.

Cowboys 1-on-1: Tank Lawrence on 'Hot Boyz' claims and his return to the field

FRISCO - DeMarcus Lawrence is back - to claim his starting left end spot in the Dallas Cowboys defense, and to slap around any pretenders' claims to his "Hot Boyz'' throne.

"''It was real fun'' to be back, Tank told me in a 1-on-1 visit following his Tuesday return to practice after months of rehab from shoulder surgery. "Coach (Rod) Marinelli wanted to put his foot on me. But like we tell him, 'Once you've been broken so many times, it's hard to break a broken man.' ... We're comfortable with being uncomfortable. And that's how we play.'

Still the dumbest self given nickname I have ever heard. Especially when there is only ONE DL that can brag about anything.

the Rams game alone put this to bed, they arent the best DL in football or the best D..they have work to do before getting a Moniker..

now if DI and RG weren't boneheads this DL could have been a monster.. at this point they are just GOOD, IMO not great..as much as we run the ball control the clock they should be better but that colts and rams game they got ran over...

New year new hope

Its completely embarrassing. A perfect example of why we continue to have little success in Dallas. The country club, I have arrived, I'm great, air of confidence that Dallas players feel when they haven't done anything.
Yeah, the brand does tend to evoke that sort of ego trip. I like Jaylon and Coop's attitudes - just play ball! The rest will take care of itself.
