How about Brett Maher?

Love the GOAT MAHER

My only problem with Maher is that he’s already 28 years old.
I feel you, but kickers have been known to play at a relatively high level well into their 40s. 28 is like 22-23 in kicker years. Trust me, age won't be an issue for quite some time. :)

I still remember the outrage when we released Bailey.:laugh:

People acting like Bailey was actually some big part of this team or our future.

93.75% on field goals so far. Not too bad. I'll be interested to see how he does when it gets cold (eagles and Giants) later in the season.

Only one kicker has attempted more field goals and made more field goals than Brett Maher. They've both missed one kick.

But I love the 93.75% "not too bad" spin. Based on that perception, 98% of NFL kickers are trash since they're all (but one) looking up at Maher. :muttley:

Not sure why this is so hilarious though....teams can be held hostage by a bad kicker...we should think back to the days between Folk and Bailey to remember how that is. People were afraid that the unproven guy would fail and it was a legitimate fear.

80% in camp and 70%ish in CFL didn't scream accurate with big leg in the NFL.

Not everyone necessarily knew of his CFL stats though and camp stats mean squat...even for a kicker. I mean the book on this guy is hardly written after a few games....we're gonna need to see him the rest of the year as far as I'm concerned...obviously we're all rooting for him though.

It takes years to know what a kicker has and they're hard to judge because even the best kickers miss sometimes, except Bailey in his prime, which is why he was so popular here.

Years? Seems a bit of an exaggeration to me....I feel like the majority of a time if a kicker is good in a full season then he's likely a good, NFL caliber kicker. Doesn't mean he can't implode sometime down the road but that's always a risk with these guys.

And to think, we didn't have to spend a 2nd round pick to find a good kicker *cough* Tampa *cough* :D

(I realize that was two seasons ago but it still makes me LOL)

The "not too bad" was meant as an understatement. If he had 100 attempts and kept that average, then Maher would be the most accurate kicker in history. So far he has been outstanding.

Front office deserves credit on this one. The Bailey cut was a blindsiding, headscratcher but their decision has more than been justified.

They nailed this decision.

:hammer:

His kicks are perfect. Same spin and trajectory every time. Slight draw from the right. Perfect rotation. Makes it look really easy.

He looks like Bailey used to look.

This was a good decision.
