Everyone is calling for the Boys to draft a CB. While i agree they need to get a nickel cb who is better than reeves, im not convinced that Newman and Henry are a problem, and not sure i would want the Boys to spend a first round pick on CB.

What i want to know is how the heck the Giants shut down the cowboys passing game and Favre, both on the road, when their secondary was supposed to be the weak link of the defense and one of their starters missed the GB game with seperated shoulder.

Are the giants 2 CB's better than Newman and Henry ?
And i thought their safeties were supposed to be awful in coverage.

Yet their defense shut down 2 high scoring offenses that live more off the pass than the run and did it on the road.

If Anthony Henry wasnt as injury prone as he is then i'd say it wouldn't be such a big deal going into next season.

Im fine with Reeves as a #3 and I do think he will be a better corner next season. I just dont think he will ever give you what you want as a starter.

Plus Henry's age is creeping up there.

Newmans age really doesn't bother me. He didn't play College football until he was 21 I believe. For his age he probably has the least wear and tear out of any starter.

So if it were me i'd evaluate the draft and free agency and go with what I believe would be the best option.

Personally I think our best bargain option would be to go through the draft and let the guy develop behind Henry and Newman.

we don't need 1 corner, we need 2. in today's game you better be able to match up when teams go 3 and 4 wide... with reeves and jones on the field, we were screwed.

Giants do it with some good pressure. As for their DB's they have done a great job of not allowing the deep ball and come up and make sure tackles on the shorter routs.

.

fine with reeves? did you watch the last drive of the first half by the giants... 60 yards in 40 seconds, all on reeves... he is a liability whenever he is out there... if we do not spend a first rounder on a corner, something is very wrong.

To answer the question of this topic, I believe the Cowboys need a conerback as bad as homeless people needing a place to stay.

Im not judging any player on 1 drive, 1 quarter, or 1 game.

As a whole Reeves showed this year he could make some plays on the ball.

A lot of times though we had him beat just having him 10 yards off the receiver.

I just don't think we have seen Jaq Reeves fully grow as a player. This year was good experience for him.

I'd like to bring him back but not without an insurance policy via the draft or free agency.

Our problem wasn't with Henry or Newman. Our problem is that 2 corners can't cover 4 receivers. I'd take McQuarters-Webster-Dockery as my 3, 4, and 5 over Reeves-Jones-Oglesby.

How about Jammer who is a FA? With Wade Phillips as his former coach I could see this happening.

I would also like to see this happen too...:star:

With more and more teams going 3,4,5 wide, the days of needing just 2 cover guys is over. You cannot have enough good CB's and this is without question, an area of need, amongst others.

We need CBs because we only have 2 or 3 under contract right now.

We have 4 with Newman, Henry, Alan Ball and Courtney Brown.

Injuries to Henry and Newman have shown the need for a 3rd Corner, Reeves is just not a good enough option. As far as the Giants go Webster is a far better 3rd Corner then what we have, Madison is wash up, but Ross looks like a player, the giants pass rush hides a lot of holes back there.

With that said, Giants lead the NFL in sacks, with what defense?

4-3 Perhaps? An Old Cowboys Superbowl Doomsday tradition instead of the Pittsburgh Steelers steel curtain tradition....

Cowboys need to switch back.

Jammer is a bump and run corner and the NFL just doesn't allow for his style of play to succeed on a consistent basis.

Getting Jammer would be a risk in my opinion.

I'd look for someone who can simply just cover better.

And Pats will run a 3-4 what is the point? Both the 3-4 and 4-3 are good defense what makes the difference is the execution of the defense. There are some real crappy 4-3 teams out there because it is not the system that makes the big difference it is how the players play it.

I would like to see the Boys bring in a FA and draft a cb in round 2 or 3, dont want to see them spend a first rounder on cb.

Jammer is physical which makes it even better, I believe he could play both Safety and Conerback if needed.
