How bad is Jerry Jones?

One of my last posts was I expect in the next few years of missed playoffs, fans and sponsors will finally leave with a vengeance. Jerry has been fortunate the bottom has not fallen out sooner. Got flamed by a couple of homers that apparently loves whatever Jerry does. I love this team - not the one putting out cow chips over Cowboys.

:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Where do they come from? The Jones clan is here to stay, for a long time and so will the fans, if they are real fans. I hate the fact that the Cowboys have not had success, but there is no way in hell I jump ship!

So, if you want to...see ya.

analytical post? this isn't an engineering forum my man.

his track record should speak for itself. Doesn't require much digging to see he's an absolutely terrible GM

So anything short of requiring higher math should just be dumbed down to gross characterizations, cliche's, and meme's?

His track record is mostly told as "DERP DERP .500 over my cherry picked range DERP." That .500 is the characterized as "absolutely terrible." To me .500 is the very definition of average. In fact if you were to take the average W/L of all the games played in all professional sports ever you would get .500.

But hey who cares about an objective standard? That's too analytical and that is only worthwhile in engineering and particle physics. As an engineer I think that is absolutely asinine.

According to ESPN Dallas, the Cowboys will release RT Doug Free with a post-June 1 designation if he does not accept a pay cut before then.
Per beat writer Tim McMahon, the Cowboys have an offer on the table and "hope he accepts it." If not, they'll cut Free and sign a free agent replacement, preferably Tyson Clabo. It's unclear what owner/GM Jerry Jones is waiting for; Clabo would be a sizable upgrade on Free and probably cost the same amount as the pay-cut proposal, if not less. With age, Jones has become less and less willing to admit past mistakes. He blundered by signing Free to a four-year, $32 million in 2011, and can't bring himself to part with the player.

Tim McMahon? He has gotten a few nuts but then every squirrel has it's day. The second half of that is just editorial and it's just as likely that was used as basis for the first half.

That is just it ... we don't want to leave. We just want our team to be better. We are COWBOY FANS, not Jerry fans like you. We just don't like to put up with failures and mediocrity - as you are apparently so willing to do. Or maybe its just that you don't want to talk about the eight hundred pound gorilla in the room when trying to discuss the last 17 years while not complaining about Jerry.

So my suggestion would be for YOU to quit supporting this team and go root for another team that is satisfied being mediocre to bad (Jacksonville and Cleveland come to mind). We complain about Jerry because we realize he is at the root of all problems with the team that we love. Does the phrase "Socks to Jocks" ring any bells? We all realize Jerry is going nowhere as long as fans like you continue to support his failures and put money in his pockets, but we don't have to like it and we will speak up about it.

All the REAL COWBOY FANS will continue to criticize Jerry until he decides to change (or he expires - whichever comes first). If you don't like that then either don't read these posts or go support another mediocre team.

If you decide to go, well ..... see ya. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Don't care what the stats say.

He puts a lowzy product on the field year after year (for the money and market Dallas has).

He's the worst GM in the league, cause any other GM would have been fired 3 times over in his 17 years stint

Thank YOU!

Of course you would, there's a winner and loser in every game. That proves absolutely nothing.

I actually disagree with this, he's one of the most likeable people in all of sports. He's just a Godawful GM.

I wasn't commenting. Just showing that this conversation is being broached in many areas of sports forums.

Well, Risen Star hurts his feelings daily, but then, that is a story in of itself!

You don't have his money and you don't care who hates you here. I have no clue why you even wasted the band width telling everyone that.

Because this country, this league, this team all aspire to .500.

All this post is, is an excuse to justify the results over 17 years of misery.

One wonders if you were asked if .500 is okay for you back in the Landry days, or Jimmy days, if your reply would have been different.

It's all about hope. I want to hope this changes and anyone that doesn't agree is a hater, or a coward.

I hope they win, but I also add to this the reality of a man running an organization in a way I have never ever seen before. And that is allowing the labor force to walk around the manager and go to the owner.

I don't give a rat's behind what the title is, he is the owner, he meddles because he wants to be known as a football man, and the results indicate this team is in the longest slump of it's history ever. And that is not coincidence this failure to excel is under his management style.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but she will find it tough sledding winning a beauty pageant.

It proves what the average outcome of pro games is. It defines what constitutes 'average' in evaluating proficiency based on wins and losses.

I excused nothing. I did not set an ideal as a paradigm. That is what you and your ilk do.

I set a standard based on the overall outcome of games and compare it with the actual performance. They are identical. I point that out. The average performance of the league is identical to the performance of the Cowboys across your cherry picked range. The truth is still the truth no matter how repugnant.

I look for objective standards to identify what something is based on specific quantities. I feel that is the best way to understand what is happening and what to expect moving forward. Why do I feel this way? Because in my work and study it proves itself true time after time after time after time. It's the very basis of science and technology.

In contrast, you set a standard of expectations ie playoff appearances, playoff wins, and whatever else you qualify as success. You have repeated '.500 over 17 years' and "he would have been fired by every other team in the league" enough times as to make it cliche.

That is the fundamental difference between you and I. I attempt to find what something is so as to better understand it. You set a standard of what you WANT and then you don't get it, you complain and denounce anyone who doesn't view things as you do simply because its contrary.

I used to look at things as you do when I was a child. I have moved past that and just take things as they are and not as I want them to be.

I have absolutely no interest in judging this team. That is you.

The game, in any form but the ones controlled by soccer moms is about winning. You toss a bunch of intelligent sounding comments and praise yourself because you don't judge.

Then you come here and call people cowards that look at the team and set expectations. it is even in your signature.

So, you are above judging the team, yet you judge other fans.

I guess people everywhere need a hobby.

Actually he broke down how you analyze something. And rather than directly respond to that you came up with more straw man arguments.

You want to compare winning percentages? Okay... How many teams are above 500 in the last 17 years?

If after 17 years you haven't figured it out yet or understand what the one constant is, then don't waste your time analyzing it any further. This one seems like a brain teaser for you......

How does Jerry stack up against the rest of the teams in the last 17 years? Is he 32nd?

You done crying?

Different people have different standards as to what things are 'about.' There are youth athletic programs that do not even keep score.

This is besides the point and apparently it escaped you that my basis for finding the average was winning percentage.

My signature is a comment about behavior. Did I call you a cynic? No, I did not. I am very careful to not call anyone a cynic here just as I am very careful not to call anyone out as a coward or any other personal attack. If you identify with the signature then that is on you and not me. Introspection is important.

And I find it funny that you try and denigrate my post on the basis of "intelligent sounding comments." As opposed to what? "Stupid sounding comments?" It is what it is. If that "sounds intelligent" then so be it.

I think and talk like that except for with children. Would you prefer I treat you like a child?

What is very telling though is that you do not even attempt to refute any of what I said. Again, it is what it is.

There are multiple constants. You have used your confirmation bias to select one as sole cause it seems.

Here is a logical refutation. Jerry Jones has been GM for more than 17 years. He bought the Cowboys in 1989 and has been the GM ever since. We have won 3 Super Bowls with him as the GM. Therefor Jerry Jones as GM does not prevent the team from winning the Super Bowl.

Personally, I don't think that it is that simple.
