Great analytic response.

analytical post? this isn't an engineering forum my man.

his track record should speak for itself. Doesn't require much digging to see he's an absolutely terrible GM

Yes. An oil wildcatter bought the team in 89 and engineered one of the greatest trades in sports history. Got it. This has been debunked, even by Jimmy himself. Jerry didn't get involved in the football side until he got the teams finances in order which eventually led to Jimmy leaving.

I agree on Deion. But there wasn’t any salary cap backloading to get Haley here. We traded for him in 92 and he was gone in 96.

The backloaded contracts are not the reason we won nor made it “possible” for us to win in the early/mid 90’s. We won because we drafted well and built a deep and talented team through the draft. Our demise started partly because our talent was starting to thin out due to free agency but mainly because of our inablity to draft. Our drafts, post Jimmy Johnson, were absolutely pathetic.

Can you please point me to something, anything that indictaed BP drove away Sean Payton? Payton speaks highly of Parcells and gives him a great deal of credit. Payton turned down a HC job in Oakland in the year before he went to the Saints. It was only a matter of time before we lost Payton to a HC gig. But I’ll wait on that link where BP drove away Payton when you can post it.

Yes, we’re the unluckiest team in the NFL going on 20 years. I hate it when that happens

So BP was a “bandage on a gunshot wound” which existed when he got here but you blame him for the state of the franchise? Does this make any sense to you? I take that back…it obviously does.

Good for you, visionary! Glad you find something here at CZ enjoyable. It'll be a nice break for you from the unending dissatisfaction and general unhappiness.

And, I hope, my homerism isn't all that thinly veiled. I don't try to hide it.

We are all homers.

One group wants to win and is tired of the excuses and missteps.

The other is tired of the first group.

I actually feel sorry for the second group.

We're all fans. We're not all homers. Both groups want to win. Both are tired of excuses and missteps. They both don't see the missteps the same way. And they definitely don't handle their disappointment the same way.

I'd feel sorry for your second group, too, if it existed.

This is how I see the 2 main groups.

1. Group who loves the team and badly wants them to win but is tired of the country club mentality and tired of Jerry sabotaging the team with his idiotic decisions and copy cat mentality. This group has no problem admitting the problems with the team in hopes that it will get better.

2. This group is in love with the team and no player, coach, or owner can do wrong in their eyes. Deep down they know the truth but they will still publicly defend them. They see complaining by other fans as a sign of disloyalty to the team.

Maybe that is how you shade it, but it certainly isn't in the reality.

One group is not tired of the excuses
They hold on to them, live for the , revel in them
The stupider the excuse the better
When there is no excuse they invent idiotic things like "believe" or cling to inane and meaningless catch phrases like process and stacking etc
It gives them a chance to show everyone that they are 'true' fans while others are not

That's not true, he wants to win and get the credit more than anything. If he just wanted to win more than anything he would have hired a real GM by now.

Spot on.

We don't read the same board. Because this reads like a fantasy interpretation of what really happens here.

Parcells first offseason. Dallas had a chance to land Antoine Winfield and Bertand Berry. But Parcells wanted to go 3-4 and signed Tyrone Williams, Marcellus Wiley, and Chad Eaton. Id say yes Parcells was a big part of the blame.

Only if you're accurate. Otherwise, people make you for a fool when you embellish the facts and even more a fool when you agree with something that isn't totally accurate.

This isn't the only place with these opinions

http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/261210/football-headlines?r=1

According to ESPN Dallas, the Cowboys will release RT Doug Free with a post-June 1 designation if he does not accept a pay cut before then.
Per beat writer Tim McMahon, the Cowboys have an offer on the table and "hope he accepts it." If not, they'll cut Free and sign a free agent replacement, preferably Tyson Clabo. It's unclear what owner/GM Jerry Jones is waiting for; Clabo would be a sizable upgrade on Free and probably cost the same amount as the pay-cut proposal, if not less. With age, Jones has become less and less willing to admit past mistakes. He blundered by signing Free to a four-year, $32 million in 2011, and can't bring himself to part with the player.

As bad as he was ten years ago by those who don't like him.

Even if the team turns itself around and manages to win a SB or more under Garrett, it will still be considered by some to be despite him, instead of partially because of him.

I'm not trying to say that either side is right or wrong in the way they think of things today, but some just won't consider the nuances and subtleties of gray, and will always see things as one way.

I think Jerry is one the most unlikable people in all of pro sports.

If I had his money I would not care who hated me, and I'm sure he does not care either.

Well, Risen Star hurts his feelings daily, but then, that is a story in of itself!

One of my last posts was I expect in the next few years of missed playoffs, fans and sponsors will finally leave with a vengeance. Jerry has been fortunate the bottom has not fallen out sooner. Got flamed by a couple of homers that apparently loves whatever Jerry does. I love this team - not the one putting out cow chips over Cowboys.
