How bad is the Running game

Here is the reality…

Dallas doesn’t care about running the ball. They don’t make any real effort.

So I wouldn’t get too upset about the run game because they’re not trying to run the ball.
Something we agree on.. McCarthy is making no effort to run the ball ... so it's not worth the emotional investment to complain about it. Our only hope is that we can keep Dak upright for 17 games and he can pass us to 10 or 11 wins. That's how McCarthy wants to play so may as well saddle up and enjoy it.

They were productive last night. They need to cut down on the holding calls.
and that's all the production they should expect, nothing more than that...

Dak still must play well for this offense to score points. McCarthy and Dak need much better 1st drives, with a real urgency to get the lead early...so in the 1st drive, they should find the best plays and best matchups to exploit. Instead, it's often 1st down runs and dinking and dunking...and then punt.

Actually, I'd argue that early in the game, especially on the opening drive, McCarthy makes too much effort to run the ball. The first-half philosophy should be "run to set up the pass"...unless the other team's run defense absolutely stinks.

And hec, even when the Cowboys were down multiple scores to the Saints, McCarthy was still calling 1st down runs for 2 yards. Those plays aren't worth the risk of a holding penalty, which you know the o-line or TE is good for a few times each game on a running play.

So, yes, this season, with McCarthy, it's all about Dak and CD, and whatever they can muster on defense....so expect more shootouts.

Dallas could trade for a middling RB and be drastically better as a team.
I totally disagree. You would need a great back, along with a solid DT to drastically make the team better. Some of the problem is the run blocking. There’s issues on both sides of the ball that have to be addressed to make the team drastically better.

so far in 3 games we have 221 yards rushing. good for 30th in the league. the other two teams are bears and raiders.

by comparison, there are 11 RBs that have more yards than the cowboys as a team.

Dowdle our top RB is 49th in the league. meaning he is worse than most back ups. Zeke is 63rd....ouch.

this is bad, really bad.

on top of that we are 29th in YPA, the other three teams are rams, bears and raiders.
there are 35 RBs that have better average than the cowboys as a team.

this is bad. really bad
But but Jerrah Jones the best GM in the history of football said he doesn’t get why people are asking about the running backs. They are fine Jerrah tells us. Biggest clown in sports and he happens to own and run the Dallas Cowboys. We are just screwed as fans.

We had 80 yards...averaging 3.5 a carry.....

We suck....
We were averaging pretty good without those last couple of CD runs, and the last give up play to Zeke running out the clock, where 3 or 4 guys were in the backfield immediately.

What is very obvious is our 2nd tier TEs are horrible in the run game and we have a serious lack of speed. Also none of our Wide receivers are good blockers. Noah Brown was undervalued here. The man could flat out block. Part of it is we do not have a single Wide receiver that is truly strong.

Because he has no one capable of running the football. We knew dak would have to throw it a million times a game when jerry refused to sign anyone in free agency

You need to talk to Mannix when he wakes up from his Perry Mason nap.
