I'm thinking that Columbo is Wally Pipp here, you can't bench this kid. He's playing splendidly, to be that far down field to escort Felix into the endzone was incredible; I thought it was a wide receiver at first. Really impressed by this guy.

that really shows his athletic ability. I am wondering if this guy can play LT. Although Flo played pretty well today. He just pounded Coles to the turf several times.

Amazing. I had to watch it twice because I also assumed it was a WR blocking that far downfield. He's a keeper.

Well now we know what we have in Free.

Now you can setup some formations where you can have Free and Columbo on the same side.

Great thread: here's my thought guys, and that is don't upset the applecart at all right now. Colombo will strictly be a backup in the playoffs IMO. Next year? I really think this is a good problem to have. Start playing Free at LT and RT, he can do both with his athletecism and when Colombo or Flo get hurt: (and they usually do because they are older) he can come in.....when Flo retires or moves on in 2011 then Free can step in. No problem in my mind.....

That was a thing of beauty. When I saw it was #68, I just said wow to myself. Free, Ogletree, Phillips, Jenkins, etc. We have some very good young players on this roster. It's an exciting time.

As I pointed out in the game thread, many on this board were talking about Free and Spencer as being busts, just a few weeks ago......................

It's been mentioned about him before he was the starter....that the guy can get downfield quick....I wasn't surprised....if there was ANY linemen to be downfield escorting him, it would be Free.

Man, i couldn't believe that. An olineman 20 yards downfield before Felix could even get there. How is that possible?

Free has great athleticism and great effort. He was the one that picked up that Saints guy to let Miles have that big TD catch to start the game.

He was also the guy that got out and made a big block for Austin on one of those smoke plays.

He gives us plays we haven't been used to seeing from an OL in many years. This is what you get when you look for athletic 320 pounders instead of roadgraders or end of the liners with shot knees.

It brought back memories of a rookie Larry Allen running down a Saints player who intercepted a pass, as one of the most athletic plays I've seen an offensive lineman make.

That was great blocking by Free, all the way to near the end zone.

Free is a ball player and I'm glad he got the chance to show it this year. He's done very well and that effort on that play was awesome.

Great comparison! I had forgotten about Allen's play. Free's play today has to rank right up there.

To be fair, the way they were lined up, Free had a bit of a headstart on Felix. ;)

Of course, Free was on the opposite side of the field....
