The one play that stood out for me yesterday from Spence was when Jenkins missed a tackle along the sidelines, and Spencer ran across the field and made the tackle. It wasn't a game changing play or anything, but it showed that Spencer is always around the ball, and has a non-stop motor.

We talked about Spencer yesterday.

Stop assuming that since you don't see a thread on the first page that no one was talking about this stuff. You just got here late is all.

My bad if I got here late. You don't have to respond if you've talked in great detail for hours upon hours the day before about something I just posted.

I was responding to what you opened your post (and the other post about the Broncos/Giants game) with:

First no one is talking about the beat down that Denver laid on the Giants, and now, at least not the day after, is anyone mentioning the great game that Anthony Spencer displayed on Thanksgiving.

People WERE talking about both subjects, at length, last night. That's all I was saying. If want to start a new thread that's fine but why put that stuff at the beginning?

Also, I agree with you, Spencer played a very good game yesterday.

First and foremost... Spencer got not one, but count em', two sacks! I knew they'd come. So did Marcus Spears. "He's been there on a lot of occasions," Spears said. "You knew those plays would come. If you guys evaluate the way Spence plays, he's always around the ball. Always. I think you just saw that pay off for him."

Couldn't have said it better myself. I think one has the right to argue that Spencer has probably had a more impressive season up to this point than DeMarcus. Now before you go into fits of rage, just listen. I'm not saying Ware is still not the best defender on the team, nor am I saying Ware is not making any plays, because Ware is always a beast. But even for Spencer's lack of sacks this season, he has been a monster against the run, and against defending the pass, and in QB pressures. It's just that everyone loves the sexy stat, the sack totals. Give me the all-around game over sacks any day. Sacks are just the icing on the cake.

#93 in my opinion is living up to his 1st round billing. The sacks will come, eventually. Just don't knock the level that Anthony is playing at. He is one of the main reasons why the defense is getting better each week.

what i like about spencer is his play against the run. the sacks will come and go but his ability to hit them at the line for small / no gain or even a loss is very impressive.

Not a problem THUMPER. The only time I really get on the computer and get in here is at work. My wife, with her online classes takes up most of the computer time before I have to go into work, which is at night.

Yesterday I think the tryptophan had a lot to do with me not getting in here. Oh well.

But back to my second-hand post/thread : I'm really digging Spencer right now. Teams are finally having to account for two DE's, and not just Ware by himself.

I was really trying to watch (in detail) our defense yesterday, and I couldn't help but think how our defense reminded me of last year's Steeler's defense, and how fast they continually got to the QB. Also, I didn't mind the fact that my father-in-law who happens to be a huge, and usually loud-mouthed Steeler's fan just sat there in silence watching the Cowboys dismantle the Raiders on both sides of the ball. He didn't make one snide remark like he usually does. It was great.

You know how you can sit back and think about how your team stacks up against other teams but not say anything about it to the other person in the same room? I honestly believe he was doing that. Comparing his Steelers to my Cowboys, and not wanting to get into it like seasons past. :)

Loved it.

Notre Dame admission standards too high to compete for National Championship when fat Charlie gets the boot. Nothing left to prove in the NCAA, so pro ball is a logical move along with the riches.

Spencer had one heck of a month of November. He has played at a very high level.

Sacks smack. Some are hung up over Anthony Spencer's sack totals. The man had a great day in pass coverage yesterday. That's one of the three things (pass rush/pass coverage/run defense) you want to see out of your outside linebackers in this defensive scheme. He absolutely smothered a guy in pass coverage on an out pattern near the sideline when Raiders were deep in their territory. Greg Ellis could have only hoped to have done half as well in that same situation and that's not an exaggeration.

Sounds like a strongside 'backer to me. ;)

I dunno, I liked Spencer from the start. He was pretty good even in those first few games as a rookie when Ellis was hurt/being a whiny baby, and he didn't even know what he was doing at that point.

Trust in Wade when it comes to front seven guys. :)

I think we shared similar opinions...

I've liked Spencer from the start and thought he has played well even the first two seasons. Greg Ellis whining and play-time stifled his development, as well as didn't allow many to display his talent.

Ellis didn't get hurt, did he? I thought he was just hiding behind the bench so another guy could get on the field.

Yep, hiding behind the watercooler. :D

If instant evaluators were running this team James, Romo, Austin wouldn't be on this team right now, Rat would be playing DE, and Scandrick would be starting.

Isn't this the truth....

Also Ball would have been cut, Free would have been cut, Brooking wouldn't be here, ...
