before annointing him as the greatest offseason acquisition and most dangerous pass-rusher in Dallas. He should easily be an upgrade over the current lot and likely (hopefully) will be a force to be reckoned with. But I think it's necessary for all to expect him to show and prove first- especially given his circumstances. Not to mention he's only be great for 2 seasons- we're not talking Demarcus Ware, here... or even Trent Cole, as of yet. Would hate to see another Marcellus Wiley-ish let down. I don't think that'll be the case, but I'm waiting to see it before I get all rah-rah about the guy. At this point, he needs this team as much as this team needs his potential (if not more).

Hands down, I expect him to be much better than Ware in the 4-3....more pressures, more sacks, better vs the run. Can he compare to the 3-4 Ware in his prime? No way. Very few 4-3 DEs can rank with the better 3-4 DEs.

OP had a point. Let's not put him on the level of pass rush specialists like George Selvie just yet. This defensive line has too much talent for him to take away meaningful snaps right now. Thanks for keeping my head clear.

I know Parcells told me not to but I was rambunctious and used all my anointing oil on Romo his first season

I believe the team agrees with you. I am sure if we were willing, Hardy would have liked some guaranteed money but the team wants to see what he is about first. If he lives up to the hype, I will bet a large sum of money that Jerry won't be afraid to pay a premier defensive end that he didn't even have to spend a draft pick on which is why I don't get the idea on the board that Hardy is a rental.

The contract Dallas gave to Hardy is basically set up to wait and let him prove his worth before they pay him.
