How can a defense be this bad?

It baffles me how we just gave 34 points in a half to a QB who doesn't even belong in the NFL. It seems like athletes good enough to make it to the NFL could accidentally make a play here or there.

I know right, I'm seriously considering trying to walk on as a DB or LB....I know without a doubt I can at least see where the play is going before our guys are...whether i can do anything about it is another story....ha

No pass rush, no LB coverage skills, poor tackling, poor down and distance awareness, not utilizing your players to their strengths, and no ball skills by any DB......that is how you get to be this bad. Record setting, tell your grand kids someday about it, bad.

To be fair, everyone and I mean everyone that is supposed to start is hurt. We literally have 3 string and practice squad guys out there. The problem is we need better game planning on the offense when we have a chance to win..... and we don't

because we have a defense full of guys who shouldn't be in the nfl and a way past his prime D-Ware. At least Hatcher is making it easy for us on whether to resign him. Enough old guys to these big contracts.

Well, we were very bad to start. Once you lose Lee at MLB. Then lose his only true backup in Durant at MLB. And then lose Sims. And Carter. And your'e starting a DE convert and a ST player, behind that patchwork DL...you're pretty much dead. You could see it as soon as Durant went out that we were officially defenseless. But that's all the more reason to have been running the ball some more on those obvious late-game series. We absolutely had to eat the clock.

I can hardly even blame the defensive coaches, honestly. That in itself might get me peppered here, but the offensive play calling was a much bigger problem in the fourth quarter than the fact that we had no players available on defense.

Brandon Carr was getting eaten alive by a 3rd string Jarrett Boykin.

Is our training staff that bad too? How do we have every man on D go down every year?

I hate to compare sports but if you follow the NBA and see what the Phoenix Suns do is astonishing. They keep players healthy and revive the careers of old people who have been hurt many years.

I have no idea what's going on over there with injuries. I was excited to hear Durant was back, because he can actually play MLB. Then he lasted one half game. Just sucks.

Let's count the reasons:

1. Scheme Change
2. Monte Kiffin, who was run out of town at his last stop, with his son coaching, no less, is terrible.
3. We have nearly 17 million dollars tied up in Ware and Spencer this season and aren't seeing much in that investment.
4. Lee can't stay healthy.
5. Bruce Lee doesn't look like an NFL player.
6. Claiborne has been a huge disappointment, on and off the field.
7. Carr forgot how to play the last half of the season.
8. We have Church, Heath, and Wilcox playing safety.
9. We have no depth at any defensive position.

Basically, it comes down to not enough production from guys who are getting paid to produce. I don't really blame the players, I blame the guy who signed them/brought them in.

I wonder how low of a point we will have to hit before Jerry realizes and hires a real GM? I'm starting to think if this season doesn't do it then we are forever doomed by the Jones family.

So how did they dominate GB the entire first half and turn into barely a speedbump in the 2nd?

Yep. 5 TD's on 5 possessions.
