How can anyone defend these coaches?

I was only looking at one set of data so there could easily be a mistake with it. The point remains even is one datum is wrong that the Cowboys haven't been able to to run the ball well. But I don't deny your information is correct.

We were running well but for some unfathomable reason our coaches decided to go away from Murray and have Dunbar come in for some runs up the middle.Unless Murray was hurt(and have seen nothing that indicates he was)there is no reason to go away from your main rb after four carries especially when you have seen your other backs aren't as effective

No we were not running well. I went back and looked at it and I've posted the numbers somewhere in this thread I think. If not PM me and I'll put them up there again.

Sorry if it didn't come across right but I meant Murray was running well, as for bringing in Dunbar and having him run up the middle again and again of course that wasn't successful.

Well, there is room for people to say and think Murray ran well. I just don't think the stats or the film backs that up other than one good run.

I can't copy his stats from PFF but they are 4 carries for 31 yards. That's one carry of 27 and 3 for 4 yards. Dunbar had 3 for 5 yards and Randle 1 for zero yards. That's 8 carries for 35 yards which is decent but 7 carries made 9 yards. That's hardly running the ball well.

Still I don't think they gave up running the ball just because the vast majority of the runs were stonewalled but because we moved the ball at will via the pass. We just killed some drives with penalties and dropped balls.

If we're going to be so predictable in our formations and line up in these heavy sets I don't think we'll ever run the ball very well.

Dallas needs to run the ball out of 3 wide formations more. Do more playaction passes if you want to go with big formations.

We don't keep teams honest. That's a big part of the problem with running the ball.

It's easy to blame the Oline but in the NFL it isn't hard for a team to stop the run if they know they can just tee off on it.

It's not 1993 and we don't have the best Oline in NFL history. Garrett hasn't figured that out I guess.

why do yall keep saying he only had one good run?Murray got the 27, -2 ,0,and a 6(on 3rd&1 which I call a good run)so two of his four runs were effective

when this great post is followed by this response...

..... you know who has what agenda and you know why people think statistics lie when not put in the correct context

the RB ran four times with 2 of them being VERY positive by ANY standards but we are told that "I just don't think the stats or the film backs that up other than one good run" by conveniently lumping together 3 runs, if you want to be objective either lump together all of them or dont lump together any of the runs. but that would not produce the desired result so it is "one carry of 27 yards and 3 for 4 yards"

laughable

and sad, the depths to which people will sink to defend this indefensible HC

Like visionary pointed out,Murray had 2 good runs and 2 bad ones. Saying he had 3 for 4 yards doesn't tell the real story. His first run was for -2 on first down to start the first drive, then he broke the 27 on a first down, after that he didn't get a carry until the second quarter where he got 6 on a 3rd and 1,then he got his final carry mid third quarter for 0 on a third and 1.

edit/ and not sure how you can say we moved the ball at will by passing...
