How can Dak not be the league MVP?

I don't think Brady wins it because his numbers would have to be overwhelming after missing four games. Further they were 3-1 without him to start the season. Plus there could be "Brady fatigue." I'm afraid Dak/Zeke may cancel themselves out although it would be difficult not to look at Dak should we win 13/14 games. Honestly Rodgers should warrant strong consideration based on how he's carrying the team. Dak winning it would almost be too much too soon almost...

Atlanta is the 8th highest scoring team in NFL history.
Matt Ryan won't win it, but some will rightly make that argument.
Would it hurt Atlanta worse to lose Ryan than if Dallas lost Dak? I think by far it would.

Stafford is playing hurt now and is probably out of it, but maybe a similar argument could've be made for him too.

I'm just thrilled with what Dak is giving us. He's possibly a godsend for the franchise long term.
I'm content with knowing that, vs saying he is already the league MVP.

Who cares? I remember when Favre won MVP, but Dallas won the Lombardi. I'll take that scenario again.

Who cares?
The one reason Romo likely won't get in the HOF aside from a Super Bowl ring is no league MVPs. That is a major consideration in HOF eligibility.

I think Zeke will win it too. I say that because, no disrespect to Dak, but if you put any number of quarterbacks behind center with Zeke, the Cowboys are probably around 10, 11, 12 wins. But if you take away Zeke, I don't know if there are many other backs who could give you the same production in the running, receiving and blocking areas (he saved Dak from being crushed last night). Maybe David Johnson.

Also, the MVP is about wins and numbers. Dak's numbers are at the top in terms of passing yardage and touchdowns whereas Zeke is at the top in rushing yardage.
I agree...Zeke for MVP. If Prescott goes down, Romo just steps right in.

He is the stronger candidate of the two, imo.

Which player on the Cowboy team would cause more harm if they went down?
Don't want to turn this into a QB thread, but some would argue Dallas would actually get better if Dak went down. lol I know...duck.
Anyway, nobody is even thinking of making that argument with Zeke.
...a shoe is coming your way bud...LOL

  1. Because he isn't even the most valuable player on this offense, much less this team. And for some reason, some people think that's a knock against him, which it isn't. But if I had to go the next three games with either he or Zeke hurt, it's not even a question of who I choose.
  2. It's a silly conversation anyway. MVP in Football is the silliest of all MVPs in major sports, with the NBA being the most sensicle. MVP is actually "Best QB" award, with an occasional nod to a RB. But this is a TEAM game more than most sports, with heavy specialization at the positions. Considering any single player to be the most valuable is foolish in this sport.

Because Zeke is..

That's why everybody screams for them to give it to Zeke and get out the way when the other team starts threatening. Then Linehan suddenly is an idiot for not feeding Zeke the ball.

And actually when teams start threatening, Linehan goes right back to Zeke. He did it last night as well when Tampa tied..

Plus, Dallas has effectively become a play action passing team because, again Zeke..

Check out the DRUDGE REPORT :
"Dallas dak attack"

That article said with dak going 32 completions out of 36 passing attempts set him up in 2nd place in the history of the n.f.l. when the quarter back throws over 30 times in a game,,,, I'm pretty sure someone is deserving of most helmet malfunctions /losing their shoe in an n.f.l. game also,,, but Dak's numbers are impressive.

The top 12 passers for the whole season, broken down by their passer ratings in the first half of the season vs. second half. Most of these QB have not been consistent over the full season of games. Only Ryan, Prescott, and Brees have made the top 8 in both halves. Brady's first half was only 4 games.

1 Ryan 115.8 (2nd) 113.2 (2nd)
2 Brady 133.9 (1st) 96.0 (11th)
3 Prescott 104.2 (4th) 102.3 (5th)
4 Brees 106.8 (3rd) 97.6 (8th)
5 Rodgers 96.1 (11th) 106.4 (3rd)
6 Cousins 93.1 (17th) 113.5 (1st)
7 Hoyer 98.0 (9th) -- injured --
8 Luck 96.2 (10th) 98.7 (7th)
9 Bradford 99.0 (7th) 94.4 (12th)
10 Mariota 94.7 (13th) 98.9 (6th)
11 Stafford 103.0 (5th) 86.1 (19th)
12 Carr 100.9 (6th) 86.3 (17th)

If I were voting today, I'd give it to Ryan.

Dak and Zeke will cannibalize each other's MVP votes unfortunately.

Brady is 39 and is near the top in every per-game stat and efficiency rating. He's #1 in QBR. The Patriots look like the best team in football. There might also be a desire to "make up" for giving all those MVPs to Peyton instead of Brady back when Brady was winning titles and Peyton was gagging in the first round every year. Also everyone is treating Deflategate as a joke now.

The Raiders went from toilet bowl to playoffs like Dallas, and Carr has bigger passing totals than Dak and no competition from his own teammates.

Matt Ryan has the most ridiculous passing numbers top to bottom, but the Falcons have too many garbage losses and he's barely winning his own division.

Stafford is a nice story but he has neither the wins nor the best stats.

Rookies don't win MVP, it just doesn't happen. On top of that, you could argue that he isn't even MVP of his team. Zeke has better chance at MVP, but he won't win it either. Zeke will win OROY, so if Dak wants an award, he's gonna have to be the Super Bowl MVP.

I don't see how that makes Dak's contribution any less impactful, especially since Romo has only been backup for a few weeks.

I would give it to Dak because I don't believe most other QBs could have led us to a franchise win streak and the best record in the NFL. Even when we picked Zeke and Tony was healthy, many wouldn't have made that bet. Certainly not once Tony went down. Dak is having what may be the best rookie QB season of all time, and fits right in our scheme, and makes all of our receivers look good.

The only legitimate argument against him is that Zeke happens to be the best back in the league, so he should also be a contender.

Pats went 3-1 without Brady. He shouldn't be eligible because of that, playing 4 less games than all other nominees, and being suspended for cheating, for frak's sake.
