The scheme definately doesn't fit him but I'm not convinced he can play QB. At least not up to a standard that could win you games consistently.

If we can anyone that is somewhat effective in this league i'd be happy.

I would've tried to have signed Ryan Fitzpatrick but the Cowboys love Weeden.

It seems like we won't get rid of a backup QB around here until they go out in a game and actually have to play only to inevitably flop.

Weeden is just garbage and i'll take RG3 or any of the Commanders QB's over him to be honest.

I've never understood that. Many in here have said that before but I don't get it. By suddenly putting a helmet with a star he will learn how to play QB?

I personally think he would be able to play better than the guy that is currently sitting at #2 on the QB depth chart. I don't think anyone thinks they are getting a world-beater with what Griffin has become, but he will only be 26 at this time next year. He could actually come to Dallas and attempt to turn his career around by learning how to be a pocket passer when there is an actual pocket to pass from. The odds are that he flames out, but if he doesn't then Romo retires three seasons later and 29 year old Griffin would be here in the prime of his career.

Seems a reasonable gamble, but it will probably not come to pass unless he gets a reality check come next offseason (instead of a check check $$$).

Any talk of him as a backup here is predicated on him getting his act together and actually being good. And then it's just because it would cause Sk*ns fans to randomly explode in their stadium seats to have to watch it. It's not realistic, but it's at least something we can pretend *could* happen. That's good enough for me.

I keep coming back to this thread to revel. I know it's fashionable to hate the Eagles, but there are few things in life I enjoy more than the squirming of Sk*ns fans in their new rightful place at the bottom of the NFCE. Especially when the Cowboys have a shot at being good. They're the new Cardinals, and they know it, and there's absolutely nothing they can do about it anytime soon, and maybe not for as long as Snyder 'runs' the organization. I love it so much.

His scheme is not a fit at all for him..

He can play QB imo but he is not a west coast QB.

In Dallas he would be back in a vertical passing scheme with a team that want's to run the ball.

Plus, I like a QB that can come off the bench and run if the starter gets hurt because usually a team can't prepare for that.

RG3 has an accurate deep ball as well.

Some team will make him a starter.. A team like Houston, Buffalo, Jets and maybe Philly would probably jump all over him if given the chance.

I venture to say that you like the concept of RGIII more so than the player RGIII. The reality is, RGIII is not a good QB. He has terrible mechanics, bad vision, struggles at the very basics of being an NFL QB (reading the defense, making his progressions, not getting happy feet in the pocket, looking up filed when flushed out of the pocket just to name a few). Not to mention that he is injury prone, which, is not a good thing for a running QB. He will never make it a through a season now that he has lost some of his quickness and elusiveness and that it I open season on Read option QBs. Shoot, even Madden 16 realizes this about RGIII :muttley::

RGIII even has injury issues in ‘Madden NFL 16′

If it’s in the game, it’s in the game,” according to EA Sports’ classic tagline touting the realism of its sports simulations.
Translation: If the “Madden NFL 16″ version of Robert Griffin III is in the game, he probably won’t be in the game for long.

Just look at all these gamers who have already watched CG-RGIII go down with injuries in the latest edition of the video game, which was released Tuesday. It all feels a little too real.

I just played 1 quarter of the new madden in GameStop and RG3 got hurt. Cousins led me down the field. #RealisticAF

The new Madden game is so realistic that after 3 games Robert Griffin is already hurt and out for 7 weeks.

Shocker RG3 gets injured in the first half of my first game of madden

Well, I'm definitely interested in seeing how RG3 does this Saturday against....

So, he leaves the game against Detroit with a concussion, which left everyone wondering, where did he hit his head. Then in a press conference, when asked about his concussion, he claims he doesn't know if he had a concussion and that they should ask the team doctor, claiming "I just work here" and now, after saying he was passing all the concussion protocols, RG3 will....miss the next 2 weeks because of the concussion.

Would love to have RG3 here as a backup.

You make get your wish sooner rather than later. Although I have a feeling Chip Kelly would love to get his shot with turning his career around.

I am of a mind that this latest, bewildering announcement that Griffin isn't playing the next two weeks, due to a concussion he was cleared for and practiced all week with, is basically the end for him. They want to give Cousins the next two weeks to prove he's better with the first unit. And if Kirk looks better than Griffin, and doesn't throw a ton of picks and look like the defense stole his lunch money, than he'll be the starter and I actually see them cutting Griffin before the season begins.

Makes sense, sit home for two weeks to protect his health for trade bait. Someone will trade for him. He has about 2 or 3 more NFL teams to go before he is out of the NFL.

no one would trade for him. he's in the final year of his rookie deal and what ever team trades for him, they would potentially be on the hook for his $16 million dollar option. Just isn't enough time to develop him for someone else to take a chance, considering he won't be able to learn a new offense/playbook in time to contribute this year.

His biggest barrier is his attitude. He comes off as phony and blames everyone but himself when things go wrong.

The idea of this clown being on our roster in any capacity makes me cringe. Not only is he a very mediocre NFL QB, he has absolutely none of the intangibles you'd want your QB to have, and he'd bring a media circus of legendary size along with him. Would NOT be worth the trouble, AT ALL.

Chip Kelly traded for Bradford, I think someone would jump at the chance. My guess would be Rex Ryan.

Couple of differences
-Trading for Bradford in March at least allowed a full offseason for Bradford to learn the offense. RG3 will have only a few weeks.
-If Bradford did not work out, Philly was on the hook for nothing next season, anyone trading for Griffen is on the hook for $16.5 million.
-Bradford has shown, that when healthy, he is an NFL QB. His issues have been injury related, and Philadelphia gets a 4th back from St. Louis if he plays less than 50% of the snaps and they get a 3rd if he misses the entire season.

Where on earth has Bradford shown, when healthy, he is an NFL QB?

His performance has been mediocre at best, even during his rookie year which was his best year.

They still gave up a second for him. Griffin is better than anything they bills have now and a contract can always be redone. Also Bradfords ability has always been overhyped because of injuries. People will always believe a QBs fortunes can be turned around with a new team. It's why Vinny Testaverde played for eight different clubs.

They gave up a second, but can get as much as a third back. And again at this point RG# would not be better than anything in Buffalo because he doesn't know the playbook. Not realistic at all to expect a guy who has struggled learning an offense to change teams 2 weeks before the regular season and be able to contribute at all.
