In all honesty, it isn't hard to improve on production of 0 catches, 0 yards even if the offense is scaled back.

That aint even funny................. who am i kidding, yes it is.:lmao:

I haven't had a chance to see the Bucs play, but I know once upon a time we held their QB to a 0.00 QB rating or something like that a few years ago.

I just don't think we can win this game with Brad Johnson.

The only hope is that Tony Romo can play and the team receives an emotional lift with him in the line up.

If Brad Johnson plays, I just don't see us winning because his arm isn't strong enough and he is just not mobile.

Also, if Brad Johnson plays, the Offense will be more horrible than the Defense and that equals another loss.

I don't buy the "Brad Johnson was just rusty" excuse.
Maybe maybe not.

Brad has a below average arm, yes.

But if we can play conservative ball control football we can pull this one out.

We'll, I saw Elvis Pressley, I mean, Grback (? sp) beat Dallas' last Super Bowl team in 1995.

They will sneak the safety up and dare Johnson to beat them. They are going to be looking for the short stuff. They will probably only rush four guys, so that should help if Dallas will play better up front on offense.

Garrett has to find a way to get Owens and Roy E. Williams the ball if Dallas is going to win. Yes, Marion Barber must have a big game, too.

I think the defense will play well after last week. The offense needs to keep the defense off the field for sure.

I still think this is a must win game for sure.

I think we'll play well against the run this week. Backs like Graham and Dunn don't normally give us as much trouble as a bulldozer like Jackson did.

This of course doesn't bode well with Jacobs and Ward coming up after this week.

But as for this week, I think it will be close. a 17-14 type game.

A FG could win it for either side.

I think we'll have trouble with Graham and Dunn. Graham is tough to bring down and Gruden mixes them up very well. I also see us struggling big time with Gruden's WCO passing attack. Garcia's ability to buy time, coupled with our inconsistent pass rush really has me worried.

But like you said if we have a shot at pulling this one out, it's going to require a Parcells-esque grind it out game. I still think our chances without Romo are slim to none.

Here is the most important thing:

IF our defensive line can step up and stop the run (it really sucks against the run lately)

and

IF our offensive line can create running lanes and give Brad the time he needs to throw the ball.

If we do both of these things, we win easily, IMO.

If we don't do both of these things (including if we do one and not the other), we lose easily.

To win ...

The OL must play better
ST needs to be solid
No turnovers
Johnson drives the bus
DL steps up.
Young CB's know their assignments.

Get some turnovers on D. We're due for some.

Ain't that the truth. I hung on to them week after week in my fantasy league just thinking to myself - okay this is the week we force some turnovers, or hopefully Felix or Pac return one - boy was I wrong. I'm finally dropping them for Antonio Bryant this week. :(

The only two games we were bad against the run was the Skins and Rams games.

Considering Portis and Jackson are Pro Bowl caliber players, it's not that surprising, although disappointing.

You underestimate the Bucs big time, IMO. There's no scenario in which Brad Johnson is playing that we win easily. Gaines Adams is going to dominate Flo and Colombo.

Teams are going to load up and stop the run.

It won't matter that they are facing WOW on Offense, they will not fear Brad Johnson.

Even when the receivers got open, Brad Johnson had trouble hitting them.

Besides, this Offensive Line is sucking as well.

I think your take on the game is a little too absolutist.

If Brad can make a few key plays (He can do this) AND we limit our mistakes +play well on D we have a shot.

It will not be easy. I have no illusions on that matter.

We can win this game.

Besides changing all the locks to the visiting locker room doors so Tampa can't enter the stadium?

In all seriousness, I think we need to enter this thing hoping to win 17-14 or something in that range. You can't expect to put up 24-30 points with a 40-year-old backup, no matter who his wideouts are. I think we can open things up a little more than we did with Garrett in the 90s, but not too much so. A lot of dinking and dunking, with the occasional shot down the field.

It looked like Johnson was running Romo's offense last week, which we all knew would have been a recipe for disaster.

Beyond that, the defense has to play its best game of the season. Period, point blank, as Pacman would say. What discouraged me most last week is that the Brad Johnson-led offense marched down the field with AUTHORITY on the opening drive ... only to have the defense bend over and take everything the Rams had. That was the most unacceptable part of that loss. We have a backup playing QB. The defense HAS to be our strong point the next two games or we'll be 4-5.

We can win this game.

Sure, anything can happen.

However, you are asking members of this board to come up with a way we can win with Brad Johnson, when the only real game footage that is recent we have is from last week, when he was absolutely dreadful.

Now if we had a defense or the offensive line was playing good, I would have more faith.

But it is what it is, this team is just not very good with Brad Johnson as our quarterback.

As a matter of fact, if we played the Browns again, we would have a hard time winning.

As ESPN personality Scott Van Pelt says (why am I quoting Scott Van Pelt?) this is a week-to-week league. What we think we know tonight won't mean much Sunday. Just look at New England, San Diego, Philadelphia and countless others on a weekly basis.

How this pertains to us? For as bad as we looked Sunday, it might not mean anything next Sunday.

Of course, that's predicated around our team having some balls, some want-to and being able to not only generate a quality scheme, but actually execute it. On second thought ... maybe the week-to-week league thing won't apply to us. :laugh2:
