How Confident Are We Without Lewis And Brown?

I've liked Bland since the preseason and he played well Sunday, but how much trust should we really have in him right now?

Joesph is not impressive at all to me and scares me more than Bland does.

Does anyone else see the CB position being a concern going forward? Hopefully these guys step up and give us great production, but that remains to be seen.

More concerned about depth than anything.

I think Joseph will be fine. It seems like every play he gives up he’s in the WRs hip it’s just a good throw/catch. Hell compete and Bland has been a really pleasant surprise filling in for Brown.

If one of them go down we’re toast.

I see a concern, as much heat as Brown takes he has played pretty solid thus far. He is not the level as Diggs but people focus on the 1 or 2 plays Brown gives up vs the many plays he has made to help this defense. Joseph will counted on now and I think he will have ups and downs hopefully more ups than downs.

Huge concern for me. Tough to put your #4/5 CBs on an island and play different coverages. Good news is this team has the pass rush to create some room for error in the secondary, but what I fear most is how this affects the run game. We really need the front 6/7 to take care of the run without committing an extra defender regularly. If we get forced to commit extra defenders against a team like Philly it's bad news once AJ Brown gets 1v1 coverage against Bland/Joseph.

Need a CB to step up in the worst way, or we need the run defense despite recent improvement to jump up another level.

Bland is a slot CB, Joseph and Nahshon Wright will asked to cover outside WR

Definitely concerned but I'm not sure what we can do about it at this point of the year. I guess we find out what Joseph is. If he steps up it will not only bode well for this year, but for the future as well since Brown is a FA after the year and Lewis has one more year. If he crashes and burns we will have a big problem come playoff time

Sure I'm concerned. We've lost two starters. Very lucky that a rookie has come in and done so well we've hardly noticed the slot.
Now it's your outside corner though and your best hope is a guy who thus far hasn't challenged for a starting role. That's terrifying.
Cause you know every team going forward is going to test the fool out of that matchup.
The only positives are 1) KJ is physically capable 2) We have had opportunities to get him on the field so he at least has some game experience.
Perhaps this is a situation where getting thrown into the deep end forces him to "just do it" and he flourishes.

Joseph will grow and get better with more reps. KJ is plus tackler, sticky in coverage and may be the fastest guy on the field. Add all of that together and I'm fine with KJ having to step up n play.

Anyway, it is what it is, KJ is the starting CB now so suck it up...some of you. Bland has been starting nothing new there.

Problem teams will have is the so called blue print is to run to avoid Parsons and the rest of the DL in getting after the QB.

It’s about the pass rush nobody knows who the 49ers corners are. Joseph is a concern but AB has given up big plays all season. I don’t think it will be much of a drop off. Bland is an upgrade over Lewis.

Correct.

You don’t want Wright playing. Don’t think he has the short area quickness to hang with NFL WRs.

I think Quinn likes him enough to keep him on the roster. How much he has developed I have no clue.
