How Confident Are We Without Lewis And Brown?

No I'm not, while it is a concern many players in the history of the NFL have overcome what so called experts thought about them and the players measurement. Wright has speed running a 4.49, he has height which is what Quinn was looking for in a CB. You sitting here telling me he can't do the job? that is your opinion.

No, I’m telling you he’s a bad athlete for the position by NFLs standards. That’s the fact. There’s a lot more to being a quality CB athlete than an inflated pro day 40 time ( at the combine he’s likely mid / high 4.5s).

Based on that fact - my opinion is he won’t be good. If you think he can be a massive outlier and be good cool.

More concerned about depth than anything.

I think Joseph will be fine. It seems like every play he gives up he’s in the WRs hip it’s just a good throw/catch. Hell compete and Bland has been a really pleasant surprise filling in for Brown.

If one of them go down we’re toast.
Lmao. Joseph is trash. If they make it a real competition Wright will easily beat him out.

Whatever he is bad player and Quinn just like having him around for no reason. lol You talk NFL standards? lol how many 1st rd players have busted in this league and yet we will see guys in the late rd come in a perform to top levels. Fine you can think or feel as you choose.

Correct, my opinion is mine and perfectly fine if you don’t agree.

But again my reasoning is based on his athleticism…which is really bad and seems like a pretty fair reason to have doubts.

I don't care if it's badly or not. He's basically been an automatic completion and qbs have no hesitation throwing his way. As soon as AB steps out of games (Bears,Colts) qbs eyes light up.

Lots of young corners get lit up in their first action. In fact most of them do. I mean did you not watch what teams did to Diggs in 2020? But he was always close to the receiver and competing so that gave you hope that if he could just settle in and have it slow down for him he might be pretty good. For that reason I would hesitate to destroy Joseph because he has not receiver anywhere near the playing time Diggs did but similar to Diggs he is pretty much always close to the receiver just lacking the confidence or awareness to make a play on the ball. That confidence can only be gained through playing. So like it or not.. his time is now. Yes I expect him to give up some plays but fortunately for us he's got a couple of teams without great offensive firepower or a hall of fame QB to get his legs under him.

I've liked Bland since the preseason and he played well Sunday, but how much trust should we really have in him right now?

Joesph is not impressive at all to me and scares me more than Bland does.

Does anyone else see the CB position being a concern going forward? Hopefully these guys step up and give us great production, but that remains to be seen.
Joesph looked bad at the CB spot and if he's Brown's replacement you can bet OCs are going to target him with their best receivers.

Personally feel Lewis is not coming back. Brown maybe.

If's there's no one better by then. Keep Brown.

That wasn't Joseph's first action

A consistently dominant pass rush can cover some corner talent deficiencies.
If the pass rush is average or below you are flirtin' with fire with weak corner play.

I'm not talking about a few snaps here and there or a quarter here or there filling in when someone gets hurt. I'm talking about GAMES. A player needs multiple games in order for the game to finally slow down for him. Pretty much every player who has ever played will tell you this. Things are happening a thousand miles an hour out there and most guys simply cannot process it fast enough to just let their athletic talent take over until they have had extended playing time. Joseph has yet to get that. That's just the reality of the situation. Hell Bland has played more snaps than him this season because of Lewis' injuries. The conventional wisdom is that Bland is too small to make the move outside so it's gonna be on Joseph or Wright to step up. We know the team wanted Joseph to win the job from Brown but he didn't so people have made him a whipping boy because they didn't think much of Brown.. But aside from an occasional hiccup Brown has been pretty damn solid overall. Yes Joseph was drafted to be more than that.. but that takes time.. especially if one is not playing a lot. Maybe he progresses faster now? We shall see.

That's because Diggs is on the other side and a freshly inserted CB hasn't adjusted to the flow of the game.

It’s a big concern. Losing your two of your three best cover corners on the team in a pass happy league- yeah, I’m concerned. Kelvin Joseph concerns me the most. Bland has shown lots potential and has made plays. Joseph has the talent but he has never shown the consistency for coaches to trust him. Now we have no choice.

When bland came in for Lewis did he struggle? Enough excuses for the fake tough guy
Yes Bland had his struggles. But counting a guy out before he gets his first start this year is just...not right. Cooper Rush surprised by doing a nice job, so why can't Joseph?
