How Confident are you in Fredrick?

Going into the season, are you really confident he makes us a better team?

I am confident he is better than Cook, Costa and Kowalski. Beyond that remains to be seen. Likely to have trouble with quick twitch types particularly early. I dont see him getting launched into the backfield ala Clay Shiver.

I agree.

So you wait for the first reply to agree with you and then end the thread? We really have no idea as fans at this point.

I'm confident that he will have success in getting a good push up the middle for the running game. Pass protection I think he will have some ups and downs. Hopefully more ups than downs.

We run sort of upright and strong willed. It's a bit unorthodox, but I think Fredrick allows Murray and Maybe Joseph Randle to be a little better backs. I also think Costa could play guard. So Costa and Leary are my guards and Parnell and Free battle it out for the RT spot.

In any case, I really like what he does for our running game. I think he'll be surprising in the passing game as well.

It was a [stupid] joke.

If he can help the running game then it turn I think the passing game will benifet. A lot easier calling plays when you are in 2nd and 4 or 5 and 3rd and 1 or 2. Defense can't just send the kitchen sink at Romo.

I think his role will help stabilize the entire line as long as he is healthy. He is the key piece to o-line success.

Surprising can be either surprisingly bad or surprisingly good. I'll tell you now, if we run a more traditional One scheme, he's going to look surprisingly bad in that regard.

I agree with you but that almost never happens for a rookie OL. They almost always get hurt in their rookie seasons, particularly if you are an interior OL. Not as bad if you are an OT because you don't have as much trash to deal with on a regular basis but yeah, I agree with you. We have a lot riding on a Rookie Center.

I'll be honest with you, while I do believe that he will eventually turn into a solid player for us, I'm not entirely convinced that he will beat out Costa to start the seasons. We'll have to see how it goes I guess.

Yes, we do! :laugh1:

I expect it to be a good battle but I think he will beat out Costa as a pass blocker. If he stays healthy the line will be stable if not solid.

i think his addition will be huge. Based on what i've heard about him, and what i've seen from his time in college, i think he'll be an instant upgrade. i was initially upset with the pick, but i've come full circle and like the pick. According to the traditional way of approaching the draft i shouldn't be happy about the pick because i think it was need over value, and i'm not excited about the T. Williams selection, but when its all said and done, i think we'll be happy w/ Frederick and the way it all plays out.

I've come around, too. I love the pick now.

low bar to be better than costa

Costa is better than people give him credit for. Like what seems to be a pattern for this team is his health. The biggest thing that Fredrick will help with will be the line calls and setting the blocks correctly that way Romo doesn't have to do that on top of changing routes depending on what the Defense is showing. Fredrick's IQ, right now, is his biggest asset and much needed for a Center. If Woicik can really whip him into shape and he stays attentive to Callahan and can pick things up quickly then I don't see him having TOO much trouble even as a rookie. He is already pretty strong and aggressive just needs to not get stood up as much as he seems to do although for the most part he still keeps the lineman in check.
