How desperate are you for a superbowl?

This will NEVER happen, purely for fun. Would you be able to mortgage the draft picks it would take for AP and Revis. Is winning a Super Bowl worth ruining our cap and drafts for the next 5-8 years to you. Again, this will never happen, but how desperate are you?

Being 26 and never witnessing the glory years(or having an understanding at the time they happened) if it meant winning the superbowl this year and sucking from say 2016-2024 I would do it.

Im pretty desperate. Not only for me, but no one deserves it more then Tony and Witten. Everything they've been through, how hard they've worked, it would bring tears to my eyes just to see them raising the trophy together.

Here's the thing.

Romo and Witten are in their twilight.

Most won't like this answer.

Give anything and everything up NOW of it means winning SB50.

Romo will be gone before you know it. We will go from peak back to "valley" for a good amount of time.

Do it now!

I'm desperate enough that I'll follow the team with tons of interest and enjoy what unfolds and possibly come in to work in a sour mood on the occasional Monday.

I've gone 20 years, I can survive 5-8. I have a lot of Steeler fans and they continually claim that 6th ring they have. Would be nice to match them.

You never do something like that because if you don't win it...and there would still be a strong chance you wouldn't...then you really wrecked the future.

Beyond desperate lol. I want romo to get a ring to bad! That man deserves it. Not gonna lie if we win one like a year or 2 after he retires it wont be as sweet. So tired of hearing the stealer fans talk about having 6.

I would contemplate the idea if this was 1994 when the current form of the collective bargaining agreement was ratified. The current era was still young. Teams could take radical chances to improve their teams, not fully understanding or appreciating the full ramification of what will happen to their franchise down the road.

Now people know what the ramifications can become. Mortgaging your franchise can place severe limitations on how to improve its roster afterwards. The NFL is not built to gamble for success anymore and hasn't been in a long time.

I am desperate for a Superbowl. I am also desperate to remain competitive each season. If your team is good enough to make the tournament, it could possibly go all the way. The relative strength of your roster does not have to be overwhelming superior to other teams. It simply must be good enough to compete. A dream team may not make it out of the divisional round but a Cinderella team could hoist a Lombardi in this era of the NFL.

It disgusts me but managing free agency and the salary cap are paramount now. The room for error is razor thin. Using critical draft picks to mortgage a possible future for the franchise may be crippling in both the short- and long-term. It is a chance that teams do not have to take. I would vote no.

Hell no. We would have a good shot this year, and that's about it. Then we would have threads for the next 5-8 years *****ing about the lack of cap/pick management

...and now a rebuttal from former New Orleans Saints head coach Iron Mike Ditka

If those moves guaranteed a Super Bowl win, then that's one thing, but they don't.

The Cowboys could have bid on Revis as a Free Agent. They didn't need to use draft picks to get him.

Does it really matter anymore when the NFL is fixed?

I'm sure if the Cowboys ever win another Super Bowl my first thought will be....."The NFL let us have it for the ratings"

Simply put, no. I'd rather have a decent shot at several than a sure-fire one-and-done for a decade type of shot. The current team is young and on the verge of getting even better than they were last year (I'm banking on the draft for significant improvement). We have a young, first-rate OL, young top receiver, a soon to be young RB (draft), and are now beginning the process of retooling the defense. We're not in cap hell, and should be looking really good in that area starting next year. That looks like a very sustainable formula for success, to me. The major potential stumbling block to long-term success is Tony's health. That said, he could be great for another four years. Even when Tony does hang 'em up, there's no law that says we won't get another good QB to replace him for the long haul (I know...we can debate until we're blue in the face about the odds of finding another top flight QB, but I choose to be optimistic). That's just my worthless opinion on the question...no more or less valid than anyone else's.

You and cyberbob CAN'T just go with the OP...EVER!

The OP stated the "win" scenario as his end result for sacrifice.

All you did was "undo" his post.
