Romo sold his soul to the devil not long after Jerry Jones introduced them.

How did Tony Romo go from being a nobody, a boy who couldn't even start for a Division I-A program to a Pro Bowl QB who beat out Drew Bledsoe (a number 1 draft pick with much more pedigree) for the starting QB position for the Dallas Cowboys. More importantly, how has he been able to surpass Jason Campbell, who was much more highly touted coming out of college?

What did he do?

Well, first of all, you don't know he couldn't start for a Division 1-A program. I'm certain he could have started for any team in the MAC, or any other similar conference.

And the answer to your question is, he worked his butt off.

The "how did he surpass Jason Campbell" question is easy: JC sucks.

Quincy without the drugs. Won't be starting anywhere in 3 years.

All the athleticism and arm strength in the world doesn't mean crap if you (a) can't read a defense; (b) can't run a complex offense; and (c) can't throw a pass with any degree of consistency or accuracy.

Those things were what QC's downfall was (not the drugs), and they are the same things that will be JC's downfall.

Its a clear cut example of having "some" talent... but the majority of it is.... its what's between his ears.... the Golf part plays a big part too...

oh and dont forget his Tiger-esque ways... using words like neat and cool and fun - I dont think there is anything he cant handle. Too strong upstairs.

My advice to other up and coming QB's..... be more like Romo.... a Romo padawan

He worked real hard
He is smart and had great coaching
He learned behind solid Veterans

He had a lot of Game experience in college.
He has moxie

And he flat out is good and plays out of the box some.

True, but everybody works hard in the NFL....he surpassed the growth curve of lots of others in front of him though.

If he doesn't have a high opinion of himself, he wouldn't be walking around town with the kind of babes he gets. Same goes for Tom Brady.

it's called moxie, everyone may laugh when someone says it, but that's the quality that Romo has that's allowed him to far surpass the expectations, not to mention the hard-work everyone else has already stated in this thread, the reason he couldn't start for a 1-A school is because he didn't start playing organized football 'till high school

humility and hard work....attention to detail....starting at the bottom type of mentality...he worked, worked and worked more to get where he is...now staying there and getting even better will be another task in itself

The Chads and Hensons of the world were "entitled". The pedigree, pampered whole career. In many ways they just expected to be handed the job.

Romo has had to fight for everything his whole life. He knew he had to earn the job. Tony also looks like he is comfortable out there in his own skin. 90 % of NFL QB's don't.

I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees
I went to the crossroads, fell down on my knees
Asked the Lord above, have mercy now,
Save poor Bob if you please

Standin' at the crossroads, tried to flag a ride
Whee-hee, I tried to flag a ride
Didn't nobody seem to know me, everybody pass me by

Guys get over looked all the time by D1 schools or they have a late growth spurt

The Texans Kobey Jones is from Lane college school he grew 5 inches like his senior year spurting to like 6'3"

How Did Ware not start for a d1 school and end up at Troy

Heck Cayton was not even good enough to be a d1-aa school starter

I give up. I want to say bad things about the guy, but I can't in good conscience. Nothing is more frustrating then admitting this as an enemy fan.

And nothing's more pleasing to us Cowboys fan than hearing an enemy fan grudgingly admit to the greatness that is Romo... :D
