I was a big Romo fan but he was at the point where every time he got hit and took just one second longer than necessary to get up you expected he was injured and done.

Considering how Dak played when he took over, it seems to have worked out fine.

You might want to find a different argument for your agenda .. just saying :D

Exactly the two situations are not remotley the same...but no Romo should not be getting extra hits in PS games that was just increasing already bad odds for a meaningless game....I swear no coach ever said as they made the playoffs "whew it was touch and go on if he was going to get that one series in a preseason game...im glad we did it because we surley wouldnt be here had he not thrown those 3 preseason game passes"...sounds ridiculous..right

If Free had actually blocked Avril instead of doing his best bullfighter impression Romo probably wouldn't have gotten hurt on that play.

On that play....his body was not taking hits well at the end, if not then it probably would've still happened unfortunatley.

Romo
How did you feel about Romo starting that meaningless game in preseason 2016? Why do you think Jones and McCarthy and the staff are much more reluctant to start Dak in the preseason now than they were Romo who is known more for injuries?

I know some Romo guys hates Dak and wasn't ready for the TR era to end when Dak abruptly ended it.

Do you think it was stupid to start Romo in that game? Maybe if not, he might still be playing now, or at least be playing for 3 more years.
Romo would have or could have gotten hurt in any game regular season or preseason. If a player is hurt you don't play him. If he is healthy then he should play. With that logic why let any starter play in preseason.

Hey hey now. I don't have an agenda. I'm just wondering why we're not starting Dak now in the preseason, yet we started Romo in 2016? Not that I wanna start Dak, I'm just asking what's different now.

Since as you said, Romo's body was breaking down but we started him anyways, despite the fact that Dak was tearing it up in the preseason in '16 so why didn't we let him continue rolling? Seemed stupid to start Romo in the preseason, but the same attitude doesn't apply with our need to start Dak currently. That's all I'm asking. Have we finally learned our lesson and don't want history to repeat?
These folks even if they thought that it was dumb then ain’t gonna admit it now if there intrenched in there may be more wrong with Dak then cowboys are admitting stance.

I didn't blame the team for having him play just like I don't blame them from holding Dak out if that's what they think is best.

Bad take, players can get hurt any time or in practice, do you think players shouldn’t practice? Why bother with training camp is it “stupid” too injuries might happen? Who knows what would of happened if there was a open competition in 2017 but it doesn’t matter as the results are the same and it appears Dak has the same problem with nagging injuries starting to pile up.

Injuries can occur in OTAs, training camp, preseason games, regular season games and even off the field. I don’t believe decisions should be made out of fear of injuries.
Right. IIRC, Sean Lee tore his knee on the first day of the first OTA.

Wrong. The way he was taken down on that play caused it. His spine was compressed by the way Avril put his weight on him as he started to slide. It was a freak accident.
lets not act like Romo was the epitome of health, if it wasn't that play another would have sidelined him. The man just took so much punishment in his career he couldn't take anymore. I loved Romo and still do, should have won at least one title here. It was just his time to go, sad it went the way it did after all he did for this team.

I think it’s a good question but I don’t quite get why your asking “the Romo lovers.” Why not just ask how we all felt about that. It was devastating to say the least because he was probably going to be in there for just a couple if series.

I think coming off what could’ve been an MVP 2016 season which ended by getting robbed of a Championship game Romo to Dak was a tough transition for a lot of fans because of the emotional investment in Tony and the uncertainty of Dak, but I would hope at the end of the day we all just want the team to win and Dak has gone way beyond expectations and is really the only chance we for that to happen.

And yes…I think Jerry is a little gun shy because of that.
