How do we put pressure on Eli and cover Beckham?

From PFF's https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-5-pff-stats-you-need-to-know-from-nfl-week-13/

3. When given a clean pocket from which to throw in the Giants’ 24-14 loss to the Steelers, New York QB Eli Manning managed a passer rating of just 58.4.

That’s the second-worst rating from a clean pocket all week, better than only Jacksonville’s Blake Bortles. Manning was one of the least-accurate quarterbacks this week, ranking fifth-worst in adjusted completion percentage, at just 65.8. He finished with 195 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions, and was zero-for-three on his three attempts that went 20 or more yards downfield. Manning now ranks just 26th for the season in PFF’s quarterback grades, at 53.9—just ahead of the likes of Bortles, Case Keenum, and Trevor Siemian

Since we play NYGs Sunday night this is germane. Now we can only hope Eli doesn't get stupid hot where everything he throws up is a PI for the Giants, some stupid underthrown ball resulting in a circus catch, or he somehow manages to be on completing good passes.

I don't like him being able to sit back there and pass. I hope they throw some double LBer blitzes with games or not particular up the A gap or blitzes from outside.

How do they play Beckham and do they blitz a lot if no pressure from 3-5 players?

We should employ what Belichek does and it's brilliant.

When he plays a big time receiver he double teams him all over the field - then puts his best cover guy on their second receiver which in this case would be Sheppard. Cruz has been non-existent this year and I would take my chances with him.

Remember Eli does not need pressure to throw an INT as Carr, in the first game they got predictable and the CBs were sitting on certain routes.

Eli gets the ball out too fast. Getting pressure will be a daunting task. The key is getting pressure when he does hold the ball longer than normal. Gotta keep everything in front and punish receivers in the short slants and crossing routes.

the defense is going to have to find a way to stop eli from ordering pizza while back there. our pass rush has been our weak spot.

to throw off obj, ask him if he's having any fun every time you see him.

For OBJ let him catch balls in front of us while Wilcox targets him for another impact blow. One good smack and he will be off his game again.

Eli hasn't ordered pizza all year. He has been trying to order a new line.

It's not a matter of just coverage. This is where our big hitting safeties can have an impact and get in their heads. Would love to see Wilcox light up Odell again.

Same way we did with Ben and Brown

Same way we did with Cousins and jackson and Garcon

Same way we did with every other QB and their star reciever

We gut it out ..... play our offense ....... and win the game.

Give Eli a mirror, that face has to distract anyone.

Put a kicking net in front of Beckham, he'll never get off the line of scrimmage.

We will get a few "hurries"... Which need to be followed by some physicality.

We need to jam his receivers off the line. Interrupt their timing.
THAT will give the defense more time to get to Eli.

It's the only way. Jam them at the los.

You cover Beckham by pressuring Eli.

Good luck with that with this group.
No. Because Eli never holds the ball.

You stop OBJ with bracket coverage and then get pressure by forcing Eli to get to his 3rd and 4th read. It's much easier on him if you blitz.

I look at OBJ like I look at Desean Jackson. Just keep him in front of you.

Doesn't matter. Eli will have a 149 passer rating against us and 3TD.

We need to bracket Beckham and get pressure on Eli by making him hold it longer than he really wants to. That's the only real chance they have of slowing these guys down.
