I see a roster consisting of

Romo
JF or another acquisition
and a 2nd-4th round pick

I want a full court press on the QB position.

It's time to get serious about winning and acquire Manziel.

It depends though, Dallas could be in a situation where they are forced based on draft value to take a QB in the first....if they take one in the first you can't justifty a veteran backup, you need to have that first round pick as close to the starting lineup as possible.

Why? Who makes these ridiculous rules? Why is the most important position in football the one area where quality depth is frowned upon?

I can justify it rather easily. This is our QB of the future. We believe in him and his impact down the road but we don't want him seeing the field right now. Done.

Manziel is turning the corner in Cleveland. I dont think they draft a QB 1st overall.

Works out great for us because while you can justify Lynch a s #1 overall pick, he isnt a guy you mortgage your future to trade up for and the teams ahead of us right now dont need QBs. Lynch and Goff could very well both be available at #4

I think the only way we're going to solve the backup QB position is to draft one. Teams don't let go of good veteran backup QBs and if we go the veteran QB route we'll likely end up with another Weeden or Cassel.

1. Is there someone available in the draft you already like?
2. Is there someone who will be a FA that you like?
3. Are you like Gosselin, and anticipate a trade offer could be made for Manziel?

http://sportsday.***BANNED-URL***/d...ised-cowboys-call-browns-availability-manziel

(Three days, two disagreements with Gosselin, here... that's the second.)

4. Do you imagine a trade could be made for someone else, exploiting our anticipated higher draft pick(s)?
5. Are you so bullish on Moore that you think he's got a legit shot?

Simple: Make Jameill Showers the backup QB.

Problem solved.

Showers solves the problem? All we've seen of him is a few preseason snaps...get real! C'mon, are you being serious?

If Cleveland drafts Lynch then Johnny College is 2nd string. They ain't letting a QB still on his rookie contract walk.

We pay 5m+ for a backup vet QB like Foles, Kap, RGIII for a year. Let them make some money and sort out their career.

We draft a QB in the first or second round to groom for 2 years. Won't even be the backup Year One unless they prove themselves. Then we can trade our vet before the deadline.

Also draft or UDFA another QB prospect late with a high ceiling to stash on PS.

Romo-Kap-Goff/Cook-Prescott.....weakness to a strength

He's on of the worst QB's in the league. No thank you.

Really? He got his to team a super bowl and a championship game. His performance went to crap as the team crumbled around him.

Way to rock the hyperbole though (sorry in advance that you'll have to look it up)

I agree.they have wasted so many 1st RD picks on QBs,dont see any way they draft a QB in the first RD.

All depends if Pettine sticks around.

If he is fired, yes, you could see the owner strong arm the new coach into keeping Manziel.

But if he stays, I can't see any way Pettine accepts Manziel. There is some tension there.

Teams that could be in the QB market, the Cowboys, Rams, Browns, Texans, Jets and the Bears

Best Veteran FA for the Cowboys is Chad Henne of the Jags....but Foles would be very intriguing if released.
Dont expect KAP, RG3 or JF to come to Dallas that is purely a pipe dream,,,,they will want to start and want starter money.

In the Draft: Its all about Lynch... if he is there turn the card in....if not take the BPA and look for someone like Stanford's Kevin Hogan....in the later 4/5 rounds or possible UDFA.

I wouldn't mind them exploring a trade for Mettenberger. No to JM or RG3.
