How Do Ya'll Feel About Dan Quinn Doing Interviews During The Playoffs?

Like most here I would prefer that interviews are conducted after the SB has concluded. It seems that this could present a possible distraction for the interviewing candidate. With that being said I believe Dan has stated multiple times that he was staying put. We will see how it turns out. I really hope he stays but it doesn't take a genius to see he will be a hot commodity in the offseason.

I'm in full agreement with this. I'm honestly surprised the league hasn't banned contacting coaches for interviews before the Super Bowl. I suspect most fans agree.
Yes, because of course, the NFL would make a rule that a coach, who is a person of color, would be denied the opportunity under ANY circumstance to interview of a head coaching position is where the league wants to be. Think harder.

If he was flying all over the country it would be one thing, but these initial interviews are probably zoom. Essentially his own time.

If we lose to GB it won’t be because of these interviews.
Idk. Green Bay ran all over Quinn’s defense last year. Why should we think they won’t do it again. Especially if he doing interviews

Meh, it happens all over. His defense hasn't been as good as it could have this year. If Dallas flops, he aint going anywhere. If he leaves, I won't really be that broken up about it.
His defense. It as good cuz we don’t have any linebacker depth. We wasted a pick on mazi instead of a linebacker which was a bigger need

It’s how it is.

You’re good, they want your coordinators. You stink and they don’t.

An hour zoom during lunch isn’t going to be the difference.

It’s naive to assume that a person wouldn’t also spend prep time and spend time doing due diligence before submitting to an interview.
I agree
Not to mention this is bound to have an impact on some players. You give your all and play your guts out for a coach and find out they may be leaving. I could see that being a big let down for some players. I don't buy the it's not fair to the coach argument either. If he's such a hot commodity and other teams want him I can't imagine they would throw their arms up and hire some crappy coach instead because they can't wait a few weeks.

Why has the NFL not outlawed this distraction yet?

Can these loser franchises really not wait an extra couple weeks or a month to interview coaches still in the playoff's?

I don’t care if Quinn leaves. I expect it this year.

I do care that his mind is going to be other places during the most important time of the year. You are an employee of the Dallas Cowboys until you’re not, so your sole focus should remain on the job at hand and when that job is completed then do your interviews.

This distraction that loser teams are allowed to cause playoff teams should be stopped immediately.
Real-world guys and ya when it's all said and done both players and coaches have their paychecks/Careers as their # 1 priority!!!!
Wouldn't you?????????????????

You “play your guts out for a coach” when you’re in high school. Professional football players play for money.

I don’t think it should be legal until a team season is over. And I think he should refuse interviews until it’s over. I believe he did interviews one season during the playoffs and it looked like he had made no game plan that week. Our Defense looked unprepared and flat.

Wow!! Excellent Post :starspin:

Imagine if you applied this concept to your 4-5 Week frenzy posts after Cowboy Losses.

Now we all know Dak Haters don't have Mirrors :lmao2::lmao2:

I do my job for money also, but when a very competent PM left our team it did have an affect on some folks. Everyone was still professional but there was apprehension about the new guy coming in. I've heard many times players talking about how they just love playing for certain coaches, so I can certainly see how some players might be affected. I'm not at all saying they would just quit trying but I could see it being a letdown.

No big deal. What are we talking? Maybe two or three hours of discussion.
But that's for each team... think how many teams will be considering him. And he has to prepare for each individually. Also adds to his leverage. It is a big distraction.

Agreed.

You gave all the good logical reasons why.

More likely players will want to perform better in an effort to make him look even better. I’m sure Cowboys players hope he gets the opportunity to be a head coach if that’s what he’d like to do. Players and coaches are career first, not team first.
