How does our D stack up against defenses saints have faced???

I wouldn't call the Pat's defense overrated just because of two games in which they gave up 34 and 38 to Indy and NO on the road.

I didn't say they're overrated because of those two games. They're overrated because of all of their games. Sure, they've had some good games, but I still think they're overrated. And they haven't faced many good offenses.

Those scores are pretty close to those offenses' averages

The Colts' offense averages 26.6 points, and the Saints' offense averages 31.0. They both scored at least a touchdown more against the Patriots. How is that "pretty close" to their averages?

and like you said the Cowboys gave up 24 and 26 to the Giants and that's only a couple points off of the Giants' average of 26.2 ppg.

The Giants' offense averages 24.6. And in two games against the Cowboys, the Giants scored 17 points after taking possession inside the Cowboys' 30-yard line. Take away those, and they averaged 16.5 -- only two-thirds of their average.

Against the Patriots' defense, the Colts and Saints had only one possession that started inside New England's territory, and the Colts scored seven points. Take away those, and the Patriots still allowed 32.5 points per game -- more than either the Colts or the Saints are averaging.

Like I said, the Saints' offense might be able to score 30 points against Dallas, especially if they benefit from good field position (like the Giants did in both games), but I wouldn't base anything on the Patriots' defense. The Cowboys' defense is not the Patriots' defense.

Also, even the Colts' defense gave up 27 and 34 to the Texans and the Pats respectively, but I don't think their scoring defense is overrated at all, they're 5th in scoring defense and stopped the Ravens and Cards, both top 11 scoring offenses.

What does the Colts' defense have to do with anything?

I believe we will hold them to 24 points, that's my prediction...

I think it doesn't matter what the numbers say in this game.In this game it is going to boil down to match-ups.How does this team man up across the board from the Saints? If the defense can keep the Saints from creating bad match-ups they have a shot.On offense they need to finish drives with points,I don't want to see any more goal line gaffs this week.

I hope so. We do that and we have a decent chance to win.

Of course you think they're overrated just because of those two games, that's ridiculously obvious, I don't know why you're backtracking from that. What else are you basing that they're overrated? They have played other good offenses, I just named them in my other post.

Sorry, but just a touchdown isn't that much of a difference, but whatever. I don't care where the Giants scored, the Cowboys' defense had a opportunities to stop them or hold them to field goals. I'm not entirely sure, but I thought the Cowboy's had a great red zone defense anyway? That really just making excuses.

I brought up the Colt's defense to bring up the fact that a defense can have a couple of games giving up a fairly large amount of points, yet still not be overrated, you have to look at the whole picture. They held some other high ranking offenses in check. Which I know you based your argument on that the Pat's defense is overrated.

We're No. 6 in the NFL in points allowed. The only team the Saints have faced that's ahead of us is the Jets, and the Saints' offense was held to 10 points in that game. Their defense scored two touchdowns, and they won 24-10.

I stand corrected.

Adam stayed with the facts and the Cowboys proved it out this weekend.

It can't be obvious, because it's not even true. Belichick obviously is good at running defenses, but I don't think they have great defensive personnel, and they've faced a lot of mediocre and bad offenses that inflate their stats. Their best cornerback is Leigh Bodden, who was underrated at one time but was cut by the Detroit Lions, of all teams, earlier this season. Their best pass-rusher is Tully Banta-Cain, who plays part-time. Vince Wilfork is a load, but he can play only two-thirds of the time.

The Patriots used to have very good defensive personnel AND Belichick running the defense. Now they have mediocre personnel and Belichick. They're still a decent defense, but they're nowhere close to what they used to be.

Anyhow, remind us how the Saints' offense fared against Dallas' defense. I mean, Dallas' defense is no different from that Patriots defense that the Saints shredded for 480 yards and 38 points, right?

You meant to say that is all we will need to beat the Saints ;)

Drew will shred this secondary - we probably won't be able to pressure him w/o a healthy Ware. I believe that our only chance will be to strap on the Nike's and go hurry up all day.
