I feel so sorry for the Falcons. Dumb decisions on one drive cost them everything. A loser is a loser, yes they made the superbowl but no one remembers the loser. Everyone at the party I went to wanted the falcons to win

Kyle Shanahan made dumb decisions for an entire half.

You didn't look it up, did you?
You just don't get it, do you, naif?
Next time do not be pretentious by pointing out spellings.
Pretentious? J'accuse!!
For someone who acts so hoity, you sure do resort to the lowest form of retort often, i.e. name calling. To each his own. I've bored of this exchange, which I admittedly started.
I'm not sure you're batting on a full wicket, so I'll leave it at that.

Well my theory is Atlanta played very hard and fast in first half, they expended a lot of energy, maybe too much, and then add to that
they went in thinking they had the game in hand and would surely win.

Then the long halftime show, fatigue sets in and mentally they think they just need to finish this win 1.
They had nothing to motivate them mentally, and nothing to figure out in strategy at the half.
So they have a bit of a let down or down shift, and are tired from what they did in first half

Then they score again, up 28-3, but new england doesnt give up, they keep mounting drives, they had 40 min to 23 atlanta in top.
Brady threw 63 passes, 93 plays total, the Atlanta defense was simply worn down in 2nd half.

NE was still making mistakes themselves, settling for fg's blowing a onside kick , dropping passes , throwing int, and other mistakes.
But they never let up or gave up, Atlanta got more and more wore out, and NE then took charge in 4th, and wound up getting 2 td's
which is good, but what I was surprised at was they got the 2 point try both times.
If they dont get that last 2 point play game is probably over.

But atlanta is tired and when your tired your mind is not as good either.
I do think the OC screwed up on that time where they were in fg range, and passed and took the sack and holding, but I see teams
including dallas do this all the time.

Then game goes to OT, and Atlanta then loses the toss, and never get the ball, NE drives on a tired and now scared atlanta team.

I think NE was in better condition, physically, and they were given a boost by their own comeback.

Atlanta never got the ball in OT, i remember dallas losing just like that to NO?? It happens.

Atlanta fans are down, but they had 2 playoff wins , and a glorious 3 qtrs in the SB, that to me is better than losing in div, and or one and done.

They did allow the biggest comeback ever, that is embarrassing, but not that big of a deal, a loss is a loss.
If this team never comes back and wins a SB, that will haunt them from now on, because it is now a famous comeback.

I'd have to agree that the first half depleted Atlanta's energy to an extent that they simply couldn't continue playing with the same energy that they had previously. Still, they had a chance to wrap up the game when they got into FG territory late in the game and that might be something that the fans in Atlanta will have a tough time accepting. Nevertheless, the Falcons played their hearts out, and left all they had on the field. They had little to be ashamed of in that sense, at least.

Hoity?
I will look that up. I am sure it means literate and suave.

...For someone so new, you seem combative. And bereft of ideas and logic. Let it fall off your shoulder, young bloke. But beware. There are sharper minds here that will leave you embarrassed but wiser.

Now be a good lad and off you go. But do come back and read and listen. I am sure you will get in sync with the system and maybe thrive. If you behave.

Luckily Ive never had to deal with a loss like that. But as a Cowboys fan, man we have lost more heartbreakers than any team. I wasnt a fan yet for the Packer championship games or Super Bowl 5 but I was for SB 10 and 13, the 81 game against the Niners, that Seahwaks plyaoff game and now this game against the packers this year

This would be a crushing loss. They gave away a world championship. Brutal.

Still better to get there though.

Hell no it's not still better to get there! This is one case where it's not! At least IMO.

I'd rather lose like we did (or any other team ever in the history of football for that matter), than lose like the Falcons did.

I cannot imagine how terrible the members of that organization and their fan base feel.

That is literally the worst loss I've seen in many many years. Maybe ever.

I would NEVER want to see the Cowboys lose a SB like that. Makes me nauseous just thinking about it. You could never look back on the "success" of that season's journey without drudging up the godawful feelings of that SB loss. It completely overshadows everything else because it was such a monumental loss.

My favorite was when ATL beat the 15-1 MIN in the NFCG in...1998 with Gary Anderson missing the game winning kick with his first miss all year. Lol.

I remember that one clearly. Randy Moss rookie year, Randall Cunningham late career surge. They were probably the best team in the league that year and missed out on the SB in heartbreaking fashion. Pretty sure the Falcons got smacked around in the SB (by Denver?) anyway.

Horrible loss for the Vikes but pales in comparison to what we saw the Falcs just do.

The Vikings are a cursed organization. They were dominated in every one of their 4 SB losses and one of their all-time greatest players Jim Marshall is best known for running the wrong way on a fumble recovery. They were on the losing end of Staubach's Hail Mary and even gave up Tony Dorsett's 99 yard TD run. If all that wasn't bad enough they got shafted in the Hershel Walker trade. Their fans must hate the Cowboys.

Cursed indeed.

That's pretty awful when it's all put together like that.

It's a pretty painful history Viking fans have had to live through over the decades. I'm sure they're sick of those historic highlights that continue to haunt the franchise and the fanbase. There's really no feel good moments I can think of with that organization. They've had some great HOF players over the years and a defense that had a catchy nickname "The Purple People Eaters" but despite some very good teams they have no rings or great moments to show for it. Some of the worst organizations through the years like the Browns, Saints and Seahawks have a championship they can look back to. Can't think of any organization that's had more things go against them than the Vikings. Don't quote me on this but I don't think they even led for one moment in any of their 4 SB losses.
