This would be a crushing loss. They gave away a world championship. Brutal.

Still better to get there though.

And to lose the way they lost?

I'm not so sure about that, Idg.

I'd rather........well, I don't know what I'd rather, but for sure, not what the Falcons did. Or didn't do.

It is kind of a tough one. I'm always going to fall on the side of getting closer, though. I'm not one to carry a tough loss around forever. It's a tough game, teams lose. The gut wrenching losses take a bit longer to get over, but two weeks later, I'm done with it. Meanwhile, you get the extra 2-3 weeks of football.

It is going to be tough for this Falcons team to come back from that loss next season, though. For sure. It could even possibly keep them out of contention next year.

Yep.

We'll see if 'ol "Matty Ice" truly has ice running thru his veins.

I don't see any holes in the offense, save a breakout WR.
But our defence, bloke, was held together by tape and twine. Our defence needs lots of help. Again, corners and DE. And a run stuffer.

It would help of half the defense wasn't suspended at the beginning of every season. We could use a defensive backfield that spent more time in games than on the injury report.

Jaylon Smith is a good start to improving this defense.....a start.

I'm for completely retooling the CB's. Rather than look at a single elite level addition, they need to bring in several bodies, i.e. the draft, veteran free agency.and even rookie free agency.they don't need to fill holes in the defensive backfield, they need to create a squad of go getters.

The defensive line must be the first priority, however.

Personally, I don't know how I could have dealt with a Super Bowl loss in which the Cowboys led by 25 points halfway through the 3rd.

That would probably require counseling with months of therapy.....including certain medications.

You don't take shots.

I took at least three. Lol

I take shots all the time and nail 99% of what I post which is why a lot of my posts generate so much debate and anger amongst FANS but I don't start threads taking them. You took three shots and missed the target. lol You just load up and start shooting aimlessly hoping something hits it's mark.

How does it feel?
There is a generation of falcons fans out there that will remember this loss when they are old men.
You never ever forget a super bowl loss.
It's the worst and add in the crushing manner in which they delivered the win to the patriots.......

Still can't believe how stupid some of their decisions were!
Atlanta (city/fans/coaches/players) will never get over this one
The patriots will always be to the falcons what the steelers are to cowboys old timers

Yup, just ask the Bills fans about the SB loss to the Giants on the missed FG.....

That's funny because it's user opinion vs opinion.

"Would have" = your opinion

My opinion = I think we beat them. You are thinking linear terms. Never accounting for intangibles, variables ... or even opportunities that may present themselves.

Being that the game never happened.... as smart as you are.... YOU don't know.

I don't use "would have" I have many posts on this board outlining what I believe will happen and it usually does. I don't make predictions for every game or every topic, just to throw crap at the wall hoping something might stick. If I have a strong feeling about something I'll walk right out on a limb and call it and tell everyone to BOOK IT! I'll tell everyone arguing with me to book mark my post and come back and see if I'm wrong. They never come back. :D It's hard to take you seriously because you come off like Joe FAN. We saw what happened in the playoffs against Green Bay who only had Aaron Rodgers. Once you get past Rodgers and the fact they didn't have Nelson they don't have much. They're not nearly as loaded as Atlanta offensively and don't have a Julio Jones. They were destroying NE and would have had us down by 30+ the way they were playing with no chance of us coming back with a rookie QB and an offense that lacks explosiveness.

Our offense is a run first, chew up the clock offense and Dak wasn't going to put up 466 yards like Brady. No way possible could we contain a Julio Jones and some of the weapons Atlanta has with the holes we have on defense. We don't have the pass rush to make some of the plays NE did. It's easy for any Joe FAN to come on here and say we would have scored over 40 points on Atlanta and beat them. This is pretty funny stuff coming from a FAN who picked Atlanta to win. You're never going to be taken seriously continuing to miss the mark the way you do. We found out against Green Bay we don't have the defense to contain an offense loaded with playmakers like Atlanta has. Just because we were able to come back against Green Bay to make a game of it, we still couldn't stop Rodgers from completing a big pass down the field to an average receiver when the game was on the line. Instead of blowing smoke all the time, try taking your FAN cap off and use your head rather than your heart when submitting posts and starting threads.

Losing the way the Falcons did was much worse, all they had to do was not lose more than 5yds and they could've kicked a game clinching FG. The fact that they gave back all they yards Julio gave them on the ridiculous catch is disgusting.

Sooooo..... if you admit to one.... there are more. ;-)

All good though. You're only human!

There isn't much more because if there were there's a NUMBER of posters on this board that would have found everything. lol There's posters who dig and dig through my archives trying to find misses and can't find any. I admit to my misses because I would rather admit to them than have someone dig them up. I missed on the 2014 season just like everyone else. I thought we would win 5-7 games that season so other than the Seattle game that season those are my misses. I predicted in preseason what would happen with Dak and Romo and slammed several who argued with me this past summer with the post. Feel free to read all my debates this past season on Dak vs Romo.

I knew Hardy was done before the 2015 season ever ended, not only in Dallas but I didn't think anyone else would pick him up. After Gregory's first positive drug test, I posted it wouldn't be long before his second one and that he would never see his 3rd season in Dallas...bingo! My archives will tell you that I don't just throw crap out there, I do research and post what I believe will happen, not what I hope will happen.

I would rather just get spanked than to lose like the Falcons. You look in the mirror amd say welp we were just not good enough. But to give it away all you see in the mirror and everybody else is " choke artist" And believe me nobody wants to be remembered as a choker.

I will be 31 in about two months.

My second earliest memory would be the 1993 NFC Championship. I remember it like it was yesterday, watching the game with my Grandfather, Uncle and Father. Only myself and my father are left now so it is a very special memory. For the next few years, I had a lot to brag about in elementary school though not much afterwards.

Obviously I have been through many stages of my life since the glory days but my love for the Cowboys has never wavered. Now that I am married, have a good career and I am soon to have a kid, I feel that I am more attached to this team as ever. I can handle a regular season loss because I am a optimist at heart and I know that it's a long season but during the first half of the Cowboys/Packers game, my wife saw a side of me that she has never seen.

I was angry and my hopes were crushed, I literally felt the life being taken out of me during that first half. I don't think she was very happy with my actions or language for that short time span. Eventually I recovered and by the end of the game, I was fine and I was posting on Cowboys message boards like I have since I was 17 years old as my normal, optimistic self. I blamed my actions in the first half mainly on my disappointment in how unprepared our team looked. Once they started playing right, I calmed down for the remainder of the game.

The point of this post is that I am curious to ask some of the old timers here, how does this feel? I couldn't imagine how a Falcons fan might feel right now. I scrolled a Falcons message board and I was saddened just thinking about how I would've felt if I was a Falcons fan. Do you eventually get that "at least we were here" feeling of partial gratification or is this the kind of thing that sticks with you? If Dak/Zeke are lucky enough to lead us to a Super Bowl next year against the Patriots...should I rent out a hotel room and watch this one by myself just in case?

The football fan in me feels bad for the Falcons fan tonight. As far as being a fan, would you rather lose a Super Bowl in the fashion of how the Falcons did tonight or lose how we did?

I turned 31 in December so we both became fans right at the same time. Man I would be in a very bad bad bad place if we lost in the Super Bowl like that. I was distraught enough when we lost to the Packers. I probably would have to take a few days off work if I were a Falcons fan

yeah you do

Not many here scream FAN like you do and not many have a worst track record than you do. Green Bay wasn't near as good as Atlanta did you watch that game? The Packers don't have near the weapons Atlanta has, they didn't even have their #1 receiver when we played them in the playoffs. The Falcons were blowing the Patriots out but they were facing the greatest QB in the history of the game and they got the rug pulled out from under them.

The Falcons would have put up 40+ on us. The Cowboys weren't near the team the Pats were by the time the playoffs started. You're completely lost if you think because they overcame a 25 point deficit to win we could've done it. That's hilarious and shows the lack of insight you have. All anyone has to do is check your archives to see the lack of insight you have. It's a treasure trove of blown calls.

My really good friend is a Falcons fan and man, did he have an emotional rollercoaster last night. Went from flying high for most the game to leaving the party just absolutely crushed. I felt bad for him. I couldn't imagine being in his shoes if that was the Cowboys. I would take a GB playoff loss like we did over a crushing Super Bowl loss like that. That will sting for awhile.
