How does this make any sense?

You originally said it would have ruined his career coming to Dallas. Now you’re trying to change it up.
If he is trying to finish his career with a ring that he definitely deserves then coming to the wack arse Cowboys would have ruined the ending of his career.

Cowboys fans have been told multiple lies this off-season by Jerry and Stephen Jones. None more blatant than the lie, “We couldn’t afford Derrick Henry”. Absolute falsehood. Several contracts could have (should have) been restructured to free up space

Heres my bigger point: It’s even simpler than that. Look at this comparison of Derrick Henry’s contract with Balt to a particular Cowboys player:
  • Derrick Henry: In 2024, Henry will earn a base salary of $1,210,000 and a signing bonus of $7,790,000, while carrying a cap hit of $5,105,000
  • Trey Lance: In 2024, the Cowboys gave him a fifth year extension of his rookie deal. Lance will earn a base salary of $1,055,000 and a roster bonus of $4,255,714, while carrying a cap hit of $5,310,714.
So we have 3rd string QB Trey Lance, who has yet to be active for a game this year, and would have only been eligible to play if Dak and Cooper Rush were to be injured, having approximately the same cap hit as Derrick Henry this year. Our FO somehow thinks holding on to Trey Lance is worth the same as the NFL’s leading rusher.

How does any of this make sense? So we have Trey Lance at a cap hit of $5.3 mil to sit on the inactive list while we watch Derrick Henry destroy NFL defenses for a $5.1 mil cap hit.

Pure lunacy.
The Cowboys did not pick up Lance’s fifth year option. He was paid his roster bonus on the 5th day of training camp. The balance of his guaranteed 4th year salary is paid in 17 installments as game checks. He becomes a free agent on March 12, 2025. He is not under contract for the 2025 season which, if he makes an NFL team, would be his fifth year.

Watch the coach's film. Dak is locking onto receivers a majority of the time. He's not going through his progressions even when he has the time to. He's missing wide-open receivers in the flat where they could easily move the chains and he isn't even looking at them. Dak is playing with zero confidence and he has the "Yips". It's not 100% on Dak for the team losing but when the offense can't even score, it puts a ton of pressure on the defense. Every W or L starts with the QB.

Nonsense. Receivers are 27th in the league in separation. Dak doesn’t have the yips. He doesn’t have protection and he doesn’t consistently have open receivers. When any defense can’t stop the other team, the offense becomes one dimensional. In our case, it’s one dimensional anyway, as we have no running game. No running threat = lack of effective play action, a QBs best friend.

I have no idea why people think they can evaluate a QB, yet they leave the most important factors out either due to ignorance or agenda.

I think Dak is a top 10 QB, but let’s say he isn’t. NO PROFESSIONAL ANALYST WOULD RANK DAK LOWER THAN TOP 15 IN THE LEAGUE. That means that he’s one of the top 15 QBs on planet earth. There’s nobody coming in to replace him. We don’t have a Dak issue. We have a team issue, injuries or otherwise.

If you put it that way in the first place and I would’ve never responded. Even if he doesn’t end his career with a ring, it’s not going to “ruin” anything. He’s having a great season with Baltimore and if they end up losing in the playoffs or miss the playoffs, it will be disappointing for him but he’s had a great career regardless. A lot of backs are already washed up by 30. Eric Dickerson and Earl Campbell never even played in a Super Bowl.

I understand what you are saying about the D but Henry's impact would have been huge and you can argue it would have trickled through the entire team. No way in hell defenses would disrespect our run game with Henry as they do now.

This is one colossal screw up buy Jerry that goes to the top of the list where Randy Moss resides (lol)............and he knows it.

I don’t disagree. Henry would’ve made the team, especially Dak, SO much better. Dak can’t utilize the play pass at all….nobody is afraid of our run game. No play action, no successful passing attack. It’s really unfortunate that we don’t have Henry or at least a run game that’s even average.

That’s a fair point. This defense is awful even with everyone healthy. But the Henry situation illustrates that several FAs on either side of the ball could have been signed here if the FO had really wanted it.

I agree. Generally, our FO does a decent job, but this was a huge miss. It’s killing Dak’s game.

What the heck are you talking about Bob? Don't you realize Zeke had 8 carries for 17 yds and a 2.1 yd per carry average?
What more could you possibly want?

Diamond Dolt or whatever the guy’s name is you’re replying to isn’t a Dallas fan. Glad this forum has an ignore feature. He’s on mine.

I’ve never noticed him before. Sometimes I reply to people and don’t even look at their usernames unless it’s someone I’ve have had a number of discussions with.

Lol. My posts tell the Dallas Stevie Wonder fans exactly what's going to happen at the beginning of every season. Yet somehow everyone seems to have amnesia in this forum.

not only that....

Zeke has a cap hit of $2M.......you want to tell me Stephen is so incompetent he couldn't come up with 3M...
oh wait...the lying Jerry.....
we have 23M in cap space for those crying about cap hit

This team doesn't have pro-scouts. I'm convinced of it. They just have a pickup truck that drives to the FA dump 4-5 weeks into free agency and some guys randomly jump in for min wage.

Yeah, watch the coaches film. I'd love to see all this film. I doubt he's seen more than a couple cherry picked low lights. I have no desire to defend the qb either. It's just disingenuous to pretend the entire team around him hasn't faltered. At half time Sunday we had something like 6.2 yards rushing. Dak is in a terrible spot now. I dont want to hear the contract being prohibitive crap either. We could've had Henry and some. They chose not to spend, and have for years.

It's all how much money you want to push forward. For Dallas, not a lot. I use this example often. Jerry will buy one car for 50k. Howie will buy five 50k cars and put 10k down on each. Both spent the same money this year, but Howie spent 200k more going forward.

Not extending Dak and Lamb for as long as they did was intentional. They had every intention of extending them. That's what Jerry meant by all in. He said as much. They waited so it looked like we didn't have any cap room. Most regular fans don't pay attention to cap details, so they believe it. Those that do know he's full of it.

If you want it to make even less sense go look at how much dead cap is still on the books from when Zeke was cut. That could have signed Henry as well.
