How does this make any sense?

Public humiliation and criticism isn’t going to move the needle with Jethro unless fans march in protest at the stadium and at Frisco HQ’s.

Place bags over their heads in stadium .

And most of all stop supporting financially . Empty seats , less tv viewership , merchandise sales , etc.

Unless Revenue takes a downturn don’t expect any changes. Like any business if sales are strong they can only assume the patrons are pleased with the product.

Cowboys fans have been told multiple lies this off-season by Jerry and Stephen Jones. None more blatant than the lie, “We couldn’t afford Derrick Henry”. Absolute falsehood. Several contracts could have (should have) been restructured to free up space

Heres my bigger point: It’s even simpler than that. Look at this comparison of Derrick Henry’s contract with Balt to a particular Cowboys player:
  • Derrick Henry: In 2024, Henry will earn a base salary of $1,210,000 and a signing bonus of $7,790,000, while carrying a cap hit of $5,105,000
  • Trey Lance: In 2024, Lance will earn a base salary of $1,055,000 and a roster bonus of $4,255,714, while carrying a cap hit of $5,310,714.
So we have 3rd string QB Trey Lance, who has yet to be active for a game this year, and would have only been eligible to play if Dak and Cooper Rush were to be injured, having approximately the same cap hit as Derrick Henry this year. Our FO somehow thinks holding on to Trey Lance is worth the same as the NFL’s leading rusher.

How does any of this make sense? So we have Trey Lance at a cap hit of $5.3 mil to sit on the inactive list while we watch Derrick Henry destroy NFL defenses for a $5.1 mil cap hit.

Pure lunacy.
It makes 0 sense after signing Dak to an extension. If the plan was to make Dak play out the year on his contract (looking at things now, that would have been the smart play), and see if you could develop Lance, then yes it would have made some sense. If your plan all along was to resign Dak then this is not the only stupid thing they did.

They should have signed him prior to FA and then done some damage in FA getting at the very minimum Derrick Henry. Jerry and Co. mismanaged the offseason worse than any team I can ever remember outside of maybe the Panthers trading a treasure trove of picks and DJ Moore for Bryce Young which may have just put the Bears on a path to the SB in the next couple years.

I said this before the first game. Jerry could have signed anyone he wanted in free agency even before the restructured contracts. He waited purposely because it wasn’t about negotiating a better deal. The deals Dak and Lamb signed, they would have jumped to sign them the day after the season ended. Jerry didn’t want to have the extra CAP space because he didn’t want the pressure from fans and media. Now he has 21 million in CAP space, but says it’s for next year….but we all know that’s BS because the CAP will go way up again.

Henry, a couple of DTs, a WR, and another thumper at LB for depth with Kendricks, and we might have a serious team. This team has no speed at RB or WR outside of Turpin. One reason our receivers were getting more space last season was Pollard. No, we didn’t have a great run game, but his presence and ability to go the distance forced teams to respect the run. Now, even if Dowdle breaks a few 5-6 yard runs, the defense doesn’t really care.

Fans who think other coaches could get more out of this roster or that the backups should be handling business with all the injuries are crazy. We went from a team with no LBs to a team with one, Kendrick.

While I agree missing on Henry was a colossal mistake, it doesn’t matter at this very second. We have no defense. I don’t care if prime Moss, Emmitt, and Irvin were on the team, we can’t stop anyone. Anyone blaming Dak is an idiot…NOBODY gets separation. It’s embarrassing. Dak is carrying this depleted team, but one dude can only do so much. No OL and Dak is being harassed constantly.

We just aren’t fielding a very good football team right now. It’s that simple (and disappointing).
You are absolutely correct it’s a team issue. But your absolution of Dak for any contribution is wrong. Just go look at the 1st interception Sunday.

That play was right in front of me. The INT was the result of an under-thrown ball AND the DB that intercepted was 5-7 yards off Tolbert in the flat and was able to go back and intercept the under-thrown ball. Tolbert was there for a 1st down, but Dak never looked that way.

Dak is m, ala Jim Plunkett, probably capable of taking a team farther than he has thus far. But not here. And a QB change here likely doesn’t take this team further. Thus FO simply isn’t able, or more accurately, won’t construct a team capable of going further. And that won’t change until Hog Jowls is pushing daisies, and probably not then with Steven.

I don’t sweat a particular play. Every QB in the league has bad INTs, and Dak has historically taken care of the ball. He’s getting hammered behind his poor OL, and as I’ve mentioned, our receivers are 27th in the league in getting separation. Lack of a running game nullifies play action, a QBs best friend. Not that it matters, though: Our defense can’t stop anyone. Due to injuries, we just aren’t fielding a very good team right now. We’ve already been underdogs in more games this year than all of last year combined. Oddsmakers are very good at what they do. None of this is an indictment of Dak.

If you want it to make even less sense go look at how much dead cap is still on the books from when Zeke was cut. That could have signed Henry as well.
Gallups dead money this year and next is about the same as Henry’s contract with Baltimore.

Bad decisions are what sinks them, not the existence of the salary cap….but don’t go trying to tell them that lol.

Because we have allowed it. We have allowed Jerry to lie like he does. We allow ourselves (myself included) to buy in to his lies and think that things are going great, but we are more inclined to bail when things get tough. Rather than being angry like we should be, we are sad and much more polite than any of our rivals would be.

That situation you have laid out wouldn't fly in ANY of our division rival cities. Specifically, if Lurie or Mara were to do the kind of crap that Jerry pulled, and then bold face lie to their fanbases, do you think the people in Philadelphia or New York would allow it? Absolutely not! They'd get raked through the coals. They would be hammered daily by criticism. Every game, they'd need extra glass in their boxes cuz fans would be throwing stuff at the glass. We aren't assertive enough as fans. Our team is soft, and we don't get nearly as angry as we should be.

I hate being this angry with this team. I hate being this angry with Jerry. But I'm this angry because I care! I care about this team, and I want to win! Last I checked, we play in the NFC East! It's time we as fans learned from our rivals as to how to hold the team accountable.

But, as disgusting as what Jerry said is, it tells me something. Especially in light of his comments Sunday, he doesn't take criticism well. We as fans can use that. Our 3 rivals can teach us how.

I made the Trance argument the first hour of the trade. It was the dumbest move I have seen Jethro make in a sometime.

How about this one? How do we even know if we can't afford him, if we never picked up the phone and asked what the price was to begin with???

How did Jerry know we could afford Trance???

I don’t remember saying anything other than “wait and see”. I was never enthralled with that trade. I did think Trey Lance had some raw talent but that’s a far cry from “full support”.

What are you basing this on AC?

If you're not "all in" on Dak, then you hate the Cowboys. You're taking away resources that could be used to make Dak more stat-relevant. You should never develop anyone other than Dak.

He’s probably glad too. He certainly has a real shot to win a ring in Baltimore.
Dallas has become the place where good players careers come to die. From Ware to everyone else who left and suddenly became successful...

I am very thankful Henry did not come here and ruin his career. He is on a juggernaut that might be Super Bowl bound rather than a dumpster fire of a team that can' t block at a PeeWee level.
I agree that Henry dodged the bullet.
I still would want Henry here.
But if here, he would not have a decent O line.
Quite the conundrum.

Jerry and Stephen have everything under control. While the rest of the league plays chess, the Jones Boys play with themselves.
