The run defense doesn't get fixed by using the defensive coaching staff; it begins by having the offensive coaching staff devise an attack plan against your own defense, show the vulnerabilities and weak points that need to be addressed.

I honestly don't know if self-scouting is even used by the Cowboys. It certainly was never apparent during the Garrett years. One can only hope McCarthy spent a little time in 2019 on it, when he was "watching every game" and studying analytics.

We overreacted to the run defense last year and added a bunch of defensive linemen who can play the run but struggle to get to the QB.

That was a huge mistake and you'll see the ramifications of it this season.

Unless Micah, Micah, Micah! can be an immediate impact pass rusher amongst all of his other duties.
