Eagles- traded their 1st round pick (8 overall) 3rd round pick (No. 77), 4th round pick (No. 100), a 2017 1st round pick, and a 2018 second-round pick for Carson Wentz... all that after just signing Sam Bradford to a 2 year, $35million contract including a $11million signing bonus, $22 million guaranteed.

Texans- signed Brock Osweiller to a 4 year, $72 million contract, it will pay him $37 million in the first two years that is fully guaranteed. Osweiller has only started 7 games in the league.

Jets- signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a 1 year, $12,000,000 contract fully guaranteed, despite having drafted qb's the last 3 years.

Broncos- traded up from 31st to 26th for a 3rd rounder to take Paxton Lynch.

Commanders- signed Kirk Cousins to a 1 year, $19.9 million guaranteed contract

Browns- signed RG3 to a 2 year, $15 million contract, plus numerous other resources for a QB.

Wentz hasn't played since suffering a rib injury in the preseason opener.

Goff looks somewhat awkward in my opinion. The stats aren't good, but beyond that you can tell he's uncomfortable working on center. And for such an athletic guy, he seems to trip over his own feet at times.

That would really make everyone understand what we are dealing with.

As I've said, if all he turns out to be is a good back up they still hit pretty big because those are to find too.

I see no reason Dak can't come out and play as well as Ben Roethlisberger did in his first year. No, Prescott wasn't a first rounder but he is coming off similar college success. There was a difference in the level of competition because Dak played against much better talent on a consistent basis.

What's similar is the supporting casts in the pros. Both Ben and Dak had/have offensive talent to help them transition into being a successful leader. Neither had to carry the load exclusively since they both weren't expected to start right away.

The Cowboys can win this year. Hopefully, we get through this year with a lot to look forward to next year.

Yeah I hear a lot of talk about with Romo being injured the cap space and dead money. Ummm, our 20 million a year QB is not going to be on the field but it's not mattering because Dak is already signed for 4 years. By the time it's ready to resign him.. If he is the "one" then Romo money will be paid. Money wise we are no different.

Dak has definitely shown promise and given us hope we can be our long term answer at QB. No doubt he would've been best served not having to start early and getting a chance to develop first. But now we have no choice so hopefully him being thrown to the wolves from day one won't be detrimental. The concern could be overblown but there have been quite a few QB's that got thrown out there too early and it was detrimental to their careers.

Now we'll never know how his career would've gone if he was able to watch and learn for a year or two. But hopefully he can have early success and this turns out to be a blessing in disguise.

Take how they reacted when we *didn't* sell the farm to move up to get Wentz, and multiply it by about 100 or so.

Very true, Dale. Great rosters are built around cheap contracts at key positions (true for all of the major sports, now).

However, if there's any downside to this, it's that we've restructered Romo's contract to where at least some of Dak's early years are still at position where we are paying premium dollars (the last, most expensive years of Romo's contract).

Its a major if it pans out. If Dak becomes a guy we cant on to be our QB for the next decade, thats a minimum one premium pick we can allocate something else. And more likely it would have taken much more then that including mutiple first rounders
