How fortunate we could be with Dak

Yeah, make no mistake: If it turns out that we hit on Dak, this is a franchise altering discovery. To turn a small investment into a franchise QB would put us in such an advantageous position to solidify the rest of our roster.

It'll be fun seeing if he turns out to be the guy.

And...to do it twice in the last 10 years is almost incomprehensible.

Now we have to start cashing in.

I see no reason Dak can't come out and play as well as Ben Roethlisberger did in his first year. No, Prescott wasn't a first rounder but he is coming off similar college success. There was a difference in the level of competition because Dak played against much better talent on a consistent basis.

What's similar is the supporting casts in the pros. Both Ben and Dak had/have offensive talent to help them transition into being a successful leader. Neither had to carry the load exclusively since they both weren't expected to start right away.

The Cowboys can win this year. Hopefully, we get through this year with a lot to look forward to next year.

Ben had the benefit of a very good defense which allowed them to play close games where Ben didn't have to go pass happy to catch up, unfortunately it doesn't appear Dak will have that luxury but he has everything a QB could ask for offensively.

Dak hasn't done anything yet. We'll see what kind of bargain he is shortly.
Yeah really, he goes out and throws 3 pics against Giants in a couple weeks and folks will be back out on the ledge and talking next years draft

Wentz hasn't played since suffering a rib injury in the preseason opener.

Goff looks somewhat awkward in my opinion. The stats aren't good, but beyond that you can tell he's uncomfortable working on center. And for such an athletic guy, he seems to trip over his own feet at times.
He also seems really small.

Dak appears to have a good mental makeup. There is a lot of glare in Dallas. So either good play or bad play gets magnified. I think it is important not to get carried away in either direction. Hopefully whether he plays bad or good, both he and the franchise knows he is far from a finished product. There will be growing pains even if he proves to be capable as the starting QB of the Cowboys. The starting QB of the Cowboys is probably the most visual position in all of sports. Just as fast as they want to build you up, they will want to tear you down.

Even when Tony hit and started playing well, I think it took him a few years to understand the glare of the position and how to handle it. Maybe it was due to him playing for a small college but the Cowboy starting QB is hard to replicate anywhere else. We are where we are, and we have to move forward for at least a quarter of the season. I am thrilled with How Dak looked in preseason, but I really wanted him to have a year out of the spotlight to soak up being an NFL QB.

I'm certainly hoping he is the QB of the future because that can save us picks in the future that could be used to solidify the defense.

Roethlisberger is probably he best pro comparison for Dak at this point.

Hopefully this Dak Mania turns out to be some Dak Magic and plays like we want him to play, as we want Zeke to play too.
It all looks like a good future combo along with Dez. But we really need to see it. But we all know that.
I am as nervous as I am excited to see how this goes.
But sure rather have a healthy Tony out there.

The Cowboys are fortunate. They have an opportunity early in Dak's career to see if he has what it takes to be a starter long-term.

I'm still not sure it wouldn't have been a good move for the deal we almost made for Lynch.

Our 2nd and 3rd picks prob won't help us much this year and beyond is uncertain.

I bet if Jerry knew Romo was going down he would have.

Dak is looking great and I'm a big supporter but if it struggles we can still address QB early in draft next year.

I don't imagine the masses would freak if we made a blockbuster trade in draft if we need a QB. They just would have if Romo was still the starter. That's my take anyway . With QB now a priority taking 2 in draft would have been a smart investment . Could have had Christian Hackenburg in 2nd rd too.

Skins back in 2012 used a first on Griffin and 4th on Cousins and worked out.

But our front office foolishly thought Romo was good for maybe 4 or 5 more years.

Dak was drafted basically for a backup and Longterm hopeful development . Hopefully we lucked out .

Yeah but, cmon. You know the drill here. Give him 1, maybe 2 good years here and you guys will be petitioning for the Cowboys to give him a mega deal immediately. Rip up that rookie contract.

They can't Rip Up his Rookie Contract. They can't get a new deal until after the 3rd year I think.

How are Wentz and Goff doing? I haven't heard a peep about either one yet there seems to be Dak-mania going on. lol

Goff has struggled and Wentz got hurt in his first game. Though he did not play well in that game

Simply an observation. If you have big, go watch on Dallas Cowboys.com or the app the interview that is addressing romos injury with the players. Bryce butlers response was probably more than he should have given and gives huge insight on the difference in attitude toward this situation this year vs last, and he does so in few words.

What about Lynch, that so many here seemed to want?

He's played okay but not enough to win the job over Seiman which is a little concerning. Lynch was always going to take a year or two to develop though so we may have been looking at having a veteran play right now if we drafted Lynch
