How fortunate we could be with Dak

The most fortunate thing here is that we have an opportunity to see what Dak really is and this organization can adjust player personnel decisions accordingly almost immediately. The front office now has a great snap shot into knowing if they will have to dip into the QB bucket next year for our next franchise QB or if Dak can be that guy.

Dak appears to have a good mental makeup. There is a lot of glare in Dallas. So either good play or bad play gets magnified. I think it is important not to get carried away in either direction. Hopefully whether he plays bad or good, both he and the franchise knows he is far from a finished product. There will be growing pains even if he proves to be capable as the starting QB of the Cowboys. The starting QB of the Cowboys is probably the most visual position in all of sports. Just as fast as they want to build you up, they will want to tear you down.

Even when Tony hit and started playing well, I think it took him a few years to understand the glare of the position and how to handle it. Maybe it was due to him playing for a small college but the Cowboy starting QB is hard to replicate anywhere else. We are where we are, and we have to move forward for at least a quarter of the season. I am thrilled with How Dak looked in preseason, but I really wanted him to have a year out of the spotlight to soak up being an NFL QB.

heres hoping Tony gives him a masters class in how to deal with this

Hopefully Dak can hold the fort down until Romo returns. I expect a game or two where fans will rail against him because of a 3-4 turnover game. He is a rookie, no matter how poised he is.

Also - a couple points to add. Eagles also signed Chase Daniel 3 year $21,000,000 contract with 12M guaranteed which is NUTS.

And - if Dak does really perform well and takes Tony's job, he will have a new contract in 2018.
