I understand what you are saying here, but the play on the field seems just the opposite, no?

I think today showed we are a very good team, just not ready to beat the elite teams quite yet. Mental mistakes are a part of the game just as much as blocking and tackling and Bledsoe makes mental mistakes that have cost us games this season. The interceptions he threw today and in the Seattle game prove we aren't up to the level of these teams quite yet.

I also think that play calling has alot to do with where we are right now. There isn't any imagination to the play calling, it's very predictable. I know the loss of Adams and having to play a rooking on the other side impacts what the offense can and can't do, but need to open up the playbook alittle more. Today was good in the fact that Whitten was a little more involved, but I really think they need to open it up and throw more deep passes to Glenn. That's why they got off to fast starts last season and this year.

Good team...not a great time...we're on the rise...

Big potential problem....The offense is built to win today....the defense, tomorrow.

We are young on one side of the ball, old on the other.

Also, I think we need a strong leader, ON the field, who knows how to take control when a big play is needed and knows how to breathe fire into guys at crunch time....

Ya know, a Michael Irvin type...

Actually that's incorrect. Our O is not old.

Al Johnson - 3rd year
Petitti - Rookie
Witten - 3rd year
JJ - 2nd year
Polite - 2nd Year
Tucker - 3rd year.
Crayton - 2nd year.

As you can see, half of our starters have 3years or less experience and our 3rd WR is only a 2nd year guy.

I wouldn't call that an old group.

Anyone thinking we wil just go out there and win the SB this year is crazy. We could win the NFC but the SB will be tough to take from the Colts. They just have everything. They are like our teams in the 90's with those triplets but they probably have better recievers and a better QB(as much as I love Troy, Peyton is just better IMO)

But we will be contenders this year We have a chance to pretty much clench our division if we beat the Giants and the Giants lose this weekend. Our schedule gets a bit easier after this point. Although it's not easy. But all we have to do is win 3 more games including the Giants game IMO then we are set.

You can't expect a SB every year. It won't happen. But this team has as much a chance as any to win the NFC if they continue playing like that. If we played as well as we did yesterday against most teams in the NFL we beat those teams. Denver is just a heck of a team.

is this a playoff team?

I think we're good enough to play with most teams, but the teams shortcomings at OL and kicker will prevent us from making any serious run if we do get in the playoffs

I know we've won alot of close games, but we've also found ways to lose 4 close games as well, 3 of which we really should have won...finding ways to lose is not a characteristic of a really good team

I think 11-5 and a win over NYG gets us the division title, but 10-6 with a loss at NYG might see us on the outside looking in for the last playoff spot

Yeah but you could say the same thing even if Montana, Rice and Irvin were our QB/WR's as of today too. The problem is, the 3 guys we have at those positions arent going to get any better. Nor are LA and Rivera.

And as far as Polite, Tucker and Petitti go, it doeant really matter if they're young if they're not truly the answers at their position.

Now granted, Jones, Witten and Crayton are fine. Especially if Crayton can step up even more and become a very solid #2 guy if not better.

So really the only way to not go backwards on offense is to hope Bledsoe plays another couple years. And the only way to go forward is to get a truly stud WR and get the o-line straigtened out. And even then it's going to hard to play well consistently because offense normally takes 2 or 3 years of everyone playing together to be it's best.
