How have we improved?

I picked up Lindy's draft guide yesterday. In it they have a review of every team's last 5 drafts and grade it. They gave the Eagles the highest mark in the NFC East with a B grade. The Commanders got a B-. The Giants and Cowboys got a C+.

I can't wait to hear what Mel Kiper has to say next.

This is truly the Madden era. People are so used to that game that they get into this instant gratification thing and if Jerry doesn't make his "splash" the day after the SB, they start questioning everything. Honestly no one will know until we start playing football.

I would agree with that C. Thank God we got The Beard, and Zach. If not, that C would be way worse. My point, we haven't drafted that well. Now, we haven't had a good FA approach. Put those things together, and your going to have a hard time building a good team.

Too much logic for some of this crowd

I doubt we will be able to sign Dez and keep the OL together. Perhaps if we were to start looking for a rookie QB to groom without a big contact, it might be possible. But a good OL, Dez, and someone like Weeden, would be pointless .

We are only a few days into free agency and it's too early to say. Teams that "win" free agency don't usually win when the season starts. Let's wait until after the draft and into camps before we say if we improved or not.

How many people thought the team had improved last year until four or five games into the regular season?

I'll wait until late October before I start toeing the ledge.

We want it all.

We want dallas to be smart salary cap wise

Yet we want them to sign difference makers when free agency opens.

These guys have a plan and its way too early to hit the panic button.

I understand the salary cap and the moves we made. I'm just looking for input on if and how this team has a chance to be better than last year?

Return of Lee?
Draft?
.....?

Maintain a solid running game and improve the defense should make the Cowboys better in 2015 but the team has just taken a huge hit losing Murray. Currently Philly has moved ahead of us by taking Murray away and adding him to their arsenal.

It's too early to say if we're worse or not from last season, but we haven't improved. Saying that though, FA isn't over and there's still the draft. In the last few years, we've hit on some mid-round draft picks like Crawford, Wilcox,T-Will, Randle, Holloman (shame he had to retire), and Hitchens. We've all seen the Cowboys go crazy in free agency in the past and it hasn't really landed us anywhere. You never really see the Packers active during FA (aside from signing Peppers last year) and their always in the hunt. They know to draft well and Dallas seems to be getting better at drafting talent that will help out during the season. I do think we should check in on Hardy and at least make an offer, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

To be fair, the same question was posed last offseason, too.

We got lucky with the RMcClain trade and SMoore coming back and contributing. Losing DWare and Hatcher was big and we replaced them with Melton, Mincey and TMcClain. Only one of those 3 worked out. With a better defense last year, we may have won the SB.

We left 15m of cap space unused. We could have got Peppers or JAllen. Now we have a big problem on D and no depth. The draft will be a success if we get 2 players that can contribute next year.

I don't know about improve overall, but when they had 1 of the youngest rosters in 2014, there will be improvement just from young players developing.

Leary, Fred and Martin could all be even better considering that 1 was a rookie and the other 2 were just in their 2nd seasons in 2014.

Wilcox, Hitches, T. Will, Beasley will likely continue to get better.

The WR coach really likes Street.

Garrrett expects that Romo won't be limited like he was last season.

D Lawrence was peaking in the playoffs. He could provide a big boost to what they had to start the 2014 season.

Lee will be back. If healthy, he is better than Carter and Durant.

Carr seemed to be better late in the season. He could be better than he was in 2014. Some think that his mother dying and him missing a big part of training camp caused a lot of his problems.

Josh Brent and Ken Bishop are both physically much better than Hayden. If Brent can get back to form and adjust to this defensive style he has terrific physical ability as a 1tech in the base. He does not get pushed around. Bishop is not quite as strong as Brent but has more pass rush ability.

T. McClain struggle though injuries all of last season. He flashed ability as a pass rushing DT but got injured again just as he was recovering from his initial injury.

They have several DTs with intriguing upside. In addition to Bishop, they have Coleman, Whaley, Okoye. Jack Crawford looked better at DT than DE.

I shouldn't be difficult to at least equal the production of Selvie and Spencer with young guys like Gardner, Boatright and Edwards.
