How high of a pick could we get for Zach Martin?

This isn't totally off the wall. That's why we are always against the salary cap because we pay everyone big bucks. He might be the best guard in football but he's still a guard. You pay DE's, Corners, and LT's in this league, not guards.

If we draft a LG at 19 I'm gonna puke. While needed, we can find one later.

We could also go 9-7 again if the eagles forfeit another game to us to stay healthy for their playoff run.

i was just doing a thought experiment here... how high of a pick could we get for Zach Martin?
We are going to have to pay him and he will be our highest paid offensive lineman along with highest paid player.
Why not trade him and draft to some dumb team like Chicago, Cincy, LAC. This years draft class is the for guards is the best it’s been in years.
Why not get a great player at a fixed 5 year cost if we are balking at paying him?
Again I love Martin but if their is value to be had it is something to consider.

The problem is the draft isn’t a sure thing, and you would be swapping a sure thing stud player for one that may not work out.

Yes. But it is a balancing act. If you could get the next Zac Martin and save about $13 million per year?

I would not trade Martin for the #1 overall pick in this years draft, players of his quality don't come along very often and he has many many good years left

What is this obsession with draft picks? So are we going to perpetually be in rebuilding mode because was have NO seniors on the team?

THIS is Funny..our oline is our skill position. .lets take this year as an example. WHAT POSITION that we have a need for in the draft is plug and play? Meaning which one of these draft picks will start for the cowboys, and have a chance to play all snaps, and Plug up a hole on defense or offense?

Again, if that is so, teams can just draft the next Zack Martin and not worry about the big price tag.

WR?
DT?
LBR?
GD?
FS?

Answer the question fantasybois?

Trading the best player on your team before he's even in his prime would be outrageously stupid.

Letting him walk because he wants more than you are willing to spend on an OG is stupid too.

The fact is there is an argument to be made that paying an OG 15 million a year AAV, might not be wise no matter how good he is.

There's absolutely no argument to be made. If you aren't willing to spend on a future HOFer who's the best at his position, then you have muddled priorities.

Again, why would teams trade a 1st for him when they can use that pick and draft a guard if he is replaceable.

Because there is no way of knowing that you are getting an All Pro no matter where you draft. With Martin you are pretty much guaranteed top of the line play for another 5 years.

Let me see how well this team has done with trading lately?...

There actuallybis an argument to be made but sometimes fans get too emotional.

I wouldn’t trade him but acting like this discussion is bonkers is simply fandom getting in the way.

Ask yourself why isnt Martin signed yet?

Because the same person who fd romo, and bounced Dez iz negotiating with Martin, and they have not negotiated a long term for Dlaw yet..How bout dat!
