The team has been 12-5 the past few seasons and I'll be brutally honest. Dak caused at least 3 of those loses as well as the loss to San Fran in the playoffs. Hand out ints like candy and you will get beat every time.

Two 12-5 seasons where he beat an incredibly bad Tampa playoff team is not impressive.
It was and still is a coordinator driven team whose OC was fired and erroneously took the blame and whose DC is the driving force behind it's success.
No NFC Championship game and he should be fired.

Sizzling hot.

Quinn stayed for a reason. He's up next. And he should be. DQ is twice the coach MM is.

Here we go turning in a Mike McCarthy post into a Prescott post ,as usual. That's what the haters do and let's quote "gets you beat every time"? You mean like Matthew Stafford who led the league in turnovers he had over 20 turnovers in the Super bowl year including two in the Super bowl?? they didn't have a problem winning... you do realize it's a team game right? I mean you do realize that guys like Peyton Manning, brett farve, eli manning and others had twice as many turnovers and somehow their teams won more than they lost. You know they had better teams, so when they met the better teams, they were able to overcome mistakes because no players are perfect.

I mean look at Prescott's numbers and don't tell me it's an era thing I don't want to hear about that the great Troy Aikman had only 165 touchdowns and 141 interceptions( that's a pretty bad touchdown to interception ratio for a guy who had nothing but hall of Famers all around him and a strong run game and a great line, give that run game and that offensive line to Prescott in the playoffs and I guarantee he wins more games you know Emmett Smith and that Hall of Fame type line in front of Troy Roger had the same thing) in his career right now Prescott already has 167 passing touchdowns 26 rushing touchdowns and only 65 interceptions so this every time it gets you beat so you're going to blame Prescott alone on an island for losing that game last year when we just saw other players in the same playoffs have similar mistakes and still win teams win it takes a total team effort there there's no way you could tell me that the run game and the offensive line and the other skill players outside of CD lamb and the coaching and the play calling were any good somehow you blame the quarterback for that all by himself or the two plays that Trayvon diggs didn't make I get the defense played great but they still passed up opportunities that truly historical defenses make those plays

so let's stop the nonsense about handing out interceptions like candy get you beat every time for one Prescott's not known for that and there were reasons to a lot of those interceptions and two lots of teams overcome those we've seen it with some of the best passers in league history have way more turnovers and still win games it's a team game

the rest of that offense did not show up to play you can't tell me that they play calls the run game the offensive line and the skill players played well at and somehow Prescott choked by himself no he played poorly 100% but he had a reason for it san Francisco's own the trenches they were the better team and they won the game we needed more support and more help around Prescott in order to even have a shot at overcoming that deficit

really?? twice the HC, umm history says hes not..sorry that not good comp.. DQ didn't do much as HC and got fired and demoted. lets keep that part clear, like other ACs they are better at being a coordinator than HC like wade or the Ryans , plenty we can list that showed once elevated they failed etc etc.

I’m a little surprised several fans think he has nothing to worry about.

And yes, I think Dak is on the hot seat too, maybe not as warm, but you will only hear it from fans and media because the team (and rightfully so) would never throw him under the bus like that.

It’s tough when you have good rosters, good winning records, good stats and the only thing you need is the trigger to win it all consistently. The trigger for Jimmy was Charles Haley, the trigger for Landry was Roger Staubach.

Not sure what will get this team over that hump, but QB or Head Coach will always take the fall first if they have been in place long enough.

Just making it to the playoffsand being dispatched early can't be enough any more

Even Jerry isn't that patient

I didn't realize just how bad his last 3 seasons were. Funny how they don't show very many Philly games in Dallas.

I get most of my Eagles info here on CowboysZone.

As far as McCarthy being on a hot seat goes, I don't think he's on any "Hot Seat", but he also isn't on a long leash.
think this is how i feel as well. I don’t think he’s in danger of being fired, but wouldn’t be surprised if he were

Now that most of the major roster moves are done for the upcoming season, what do you think McCarthy needs to produce to stay in Dallas?

These Head Coach Hot Seat articles come out every year, and I’m pretty sure big Mac will be on every single one

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-5-nfl-head-coaches-on-the-hot-seat-heading-into-the-2023-season

I see Chargers are on this list. Sort of ironic that Kellen Moore went to the Chargers, because I look at them as the AFC Cowboys. A lot of talent every year, but never put it together in the end. Moore could be gone as quick as Jason Garrett was with the Giants. There’s no Jerry Jones now who dictates which coordinators stay.

I honestly think Big Mac has to go to at least the NFC championship for Jerry to keep him around. Considering he’s never been in the Jerry family fraternity, Jerry’s age, recent team history in the Playoffs, and the perceived talent that McCarthy has inherited — fair or not —- I believe he has to produce big to stay.
This is a make it or break it year for MM. I think he saves his job with a NFCCG appearance, but probably gets gassed if they fall short of that again.
McCarthy’s seat is pretty hot because anything less than what we did this past season might get him fired.
I think a better comp for Mike McCarthy situation would be Marty schottenheimer in San Diego

he had two double digit win seasons, two playoff appearances in 3 years, in his last season he was 14-2 and lost in the first round

he got fired, that would be something closer, even though if Mike McCarthy will be winning three straight double-digit seasons most likely and getting into the playoffs, so if he gets back to the second round I just don't think he's being let go but that would be a closer comp to mikes situation here.
Despite 2023 probably ending in a third consecutive very successful regular season, I offer up these two scenarios that could spell the end of McCarthy as HC:
1) Cowboys win the division and home-field advantage = 1st round bye -
but lose to the wildcard team in the divisional round;
2) Cowboys win NFC East and are a wildcard round host - but lose to the visiting WC opponent.
Especially if it's a team such as the Giants, Seahawks, Vikings, Lions, or whichever team wins the NFC South.

I can see Buffalo‘s Sean McDermott in a similar situation as MM.

Both have immensely talented rosters
Both have assumed additional roles like McDermott calling defensive plays and MM calling offensive plays.
Both have had teams that are ready to win NOW but have disappointed in the playoffs

one of these guys will be replaced soon if they don’t take that next measurable step.

I have the usual championship game or else comment like many. But I will add that the roster has continued to get better under McCarthy since he got here. No one can deny it's better since Garrett finally left. Jerry might want to keep him just to keep for that reason alone.

You missed the point he didn't get fired because he was losing in the playoffs he got fired because he had one great year and a bunch of subpar average and below average years they saw it they fired him he goes to the Jaguars and he did a pretty good job but still nine and eight that's average that's all I'm saying you picked the wrong call for the hot seat they were similar I already put it up Marty schottenheimer with San Diego is a closer comp to why Mike McCarthy could end up losing his job in a similar scenario

A Cowboys coach is always on the hot seat. It sells. Four nobodies that haven’t won big, add whomever is the Dallas HC, voila! New list! Let’s speculate!

Depends on where the Joneses think their team ranks in the NFC.

Can they be realistic about PHL and SF having better talent and coaching for SF?

Will DET and SEA move ahead of them? The Giants?

And then the question becomes just who in the hell are they going to hire to put up with their BS?

If I am McC, I feel my seat is directly tied to the health of that OL. And I would be damned nervous about that.
