I think McCarthy very much can get more out of Dak IF Dak puts in the time and effort to learn how to use the WCO. I think Dak's running ability here will be key as well. As you correctly point out, Rodgers ran quite a bit in his best years. Thus, the defences were frozen because of a concern for if Rodgers would run it. I think Dak is a better runner than Rodgers is. Thus, this advantage shifts more to Dak. If Dak can use his mobility more with McCarthy, then that will open up more options for the WRs and Zeke. Thus, Dak can be more effective. I think this is also a key to the WCO is having a QB that can scramble, if I'm not mistaken. I don't know if Dak is elite, but I think he's a very good QB. And I think coaching can help him move to the elite tier. That's where I find it so difficult to judge if Dak is elite or not. How do I judge someone when they were coached by Jason Garrett? I think we can at least all agree that McCarthy is twice the coach Garrett could ever be. He's won a Super Bowl and has been to several NFC Finals. So, I think now we'll have a better chance of evaluating Dak. Just a pity we strapped him down to Garrett for so long.
I read that he'd already brought up the RPO about using with Prescott.Additionally, we are assuming that the WCO will definitely be implemented. If he’s keeping Kellen and he’s believes that the offense isn’t broke we may see the same as before or a hybrid of both offenses. We really are speculating and perhaps McCarthy has other plans
As I said I like your optimism and I hope you are right....
Good post! Really like the fact that McCarthy is going to want Dak to get the ball out of his hands quickly.
I think Dak can be an accurate passer.
I know there are a lot of naysayers about Dak Prescott, and he had his struggles last year. However, I do not think he was the main problem last year. We had too many players playing as individuals, and I think the team just gave up on Garrett. McCarthy is a fresh voice to them, and fresh inspiration. Now, with that out the way, here's my take, and laugh at me how you will, but I will make a rather bold statement here.
I think Dak Prescott will be better than Aaron Rodgers because of this hire. I know. I know. A lot of you are going to have a go at me for this. However, let me explain my position.
In the first place, as good as Aaron Rodgers is, he is an absolute egotistical maniac who strikes me as uncoachable. He's got a massive ego, and he seems like he's incredibly difficult to get along with. I can't imagine how difficult he must be to coach from an ego standpoint, as good as he is. Dak Prescott, on the other hand, seems like a rather humble chap who seems like he'd take very strongly to coaching.
In the second place, Mike McCarthy is a WCO chap. I strongly believe that this fits Dak's style. If you noticed early on, he would check down often to his playmakers. This got him the reputation of being a "Check Down Charlie" as I recall. The nice thing about the WCO-style that McCarthy likes is that it allows him to quickly get the ball out and to his playmakers. This would help Dak to 1. not take so many hits/sacks and 2. get Cooper, Gallup, and Zeke the ball in space. This allows them to really have a good scamper against opposing defences. This leads me to my third place point.
In the third place, I think the combination of the coaching that Dak will receive and the style of coaching that McCarthy will bring will be able to allow Dak to do what he does best. Thus, I strongly think that the Dak we will see this year will be remarkably different to the Dak we have seen before this season. As Dak progresses in the McCarthy system, I think his success will become greater than that of Rodgers. Thus, I think he will end up being regarded as better than Rodgers.
A bit bold? Maybe. But that's my take on this. I truly love that we finally have a WCO that can take advantage of what Dak does well. This is what I've been BEGGING for. I initially wanted a Reid chap, but I think McCarthy will be better.
And we will all differ on wether Dak is Elite or not but the FO has that problem not us, lol. I use the eye test and when I see Qb’s like Rodgers ( back in the day) , Mahomes, Wilson, or Jackson, elevate their teams in spite of deficiencies that’s where I agree that elite money has to be spent. FWIW, I agree that Rodgers is an arrogant bastid, but he hadn’t even talent to put his money where his mouth was
I’m stoked and hopeful that we will be a better offense than we saw in the Saints, Patriots, and final Eagles game. All winnable games
His accuracy issues can be fixed. He needs to learn to stop throwing at the receiver and start throwing where the receiver will be. That can be fixed, with a little focus and a lot of practice, just like learning to shoot.
However....you'd think that's something he would have picked up on by now. Seems like he's only capable of leading the receiver if they're running away from him, and to me that's a problem.
Hope is eternal and maybe magic elves will touch Dak's arm and turn him into a QB who is better than Rodgers?
Mike and Dak will not have a happy ending as Mike is a pass-happy HC and Dak has major flaws and issues with his game in general.
Dream on brother dream on while most of us on planet Earth have seen week in and week out a Tier 3-4 QB holding us back weekly!!!!!
FG anyone?

MM is a big believer in footwork
Footwork is huge in accuracy
He will be showing Dak a film of Marino’s footwork early and often

I do not think he thinks as highly of himself as he is confident, that was instilled in him by his Mom when he couldn't beat out the QB1 in high school and college. He was taught to always believe in himself and to not do that is a tarnish on the memory of his Mom. This is a lady that called his HS coach and told him he was playing her son wrong. He laughed when he told the story and then said "she was right".
The money thing is a mystery because we don't know the facts but most of what I'd read was that it was not about the money but the length of the contract. It seems that they were trying to keep themselves out of the QB sweepstakes in 3 or 4 years. His agent told him about all of these deals QB's have now that they're regretting. Wilson just got 35M, what do we think Mahomes is going to get and then Watson and Jackson? It wasn't that long ago that we were upset that Romo was getting 19M, the QB salary will have doubled from his last contract. It is increasing disproportionately to the cap. He is following the advice of his agent, as he should. Garappolo and Cousins are in at 27.5 and 28M and that's starting to look like a bargain comparatively speaking.
Rodgers uses his feet flawlessly. Our guy has to premeditate that mess before he looks downfield.I think McCarthy very much can get more out of Dak IF Dak puts in the time and effort to learn how to use the WCO. are you being optimistic? He will teach him to make the easy throw when available. There were so many times where guys were open underneath for 5-6 yards and you can see Dak continue to wait and look for something more downfield. McCarthy will teach him to make those quicker throws.
