How is Dak a top QB?

Isn't think team a big proponent of drafting and "developing through the draft?" - lots of ways they could have gone including getting a QB in FA and keeping on building the team around them. Instead they overpaid and are now stuck.

You have 9 qbs there. Dak is around 8ish. Jackson, Lawrence, and hurts are arguable not better.

IMO, he is somewhere in the 10 to 15 range for starting QB's. Outside of a few extremist haters or fans, I'm not sure there is a lot of debate about that. The tough question is if you can win with a #10 to 15 QB being paid $40m per year.

Even if I tried and gave Dak every liberty, there isn’t a planet where he is a top 10-15 qb. How people keep saying this is truly a mystery.

The number one QB most over hyped and overrated in the NFL today is Dakota "WENTZ 2.0" Prescot. The title was previously held by Carson Wentz 1.0 when he failed miserably while attempting to lead the Eagles to a SB. The Eagles dumped the bum and the rest has been favorable history for the Eagles. Unfortunately for Cowboys fan, JJ will ride this plow horse until he dies, at which point his sons will take over the reins make the same lousy mistakes that their old man has made for the past 3 decades!

16th in passer rating and 12th in QBR. With a few exceptions, he generally falls in this range.

But they had Dak & Zeke BOTH on their rookie contracts playing at a high level.

By then you already knew what you had in Dak and it certainly wasn't the difference maker he was paid as. Shame it took paying out that contract to discover this and I do think Jerry is starting to see it based on his reaction after the game. Guy looked like he was absolutely disgusted after that game.

Please this team was never balanced, no one who saw them get smashed by SF the last two seasons would claim that this team was balanced. Even before his new contract we saw Prescott's problems with having the team lean on him when the running game was gone. That's what you saw over and over again - example after example with the team going down because the opponents stacked the box against Zeke.

Prescott is the kind of QB who is right around 10 and he'll give you some top 5. And also a stinker here and there. But what they will never admit is what a team sport is. Because then the "blame" wouldn't be all on Dak and it's just an "excuse."
