They don't know.

If this board has proven anything its that this board reaches a lot of times when it comes to player personel and they are quick to say someone sucks only to get egg on the face later.

Very true, Olgetree is the flavor of the month this year, just like Amendola, Stanbeck, etc... It does seem Olgetree has some potential, but he will need time to develop. Some zoners on here love to hype the new prospect year after year.

He is. He will be activated very soon.

Defenses are playing single high, safety in the box, we need to burn them. Ogletree can run the deep passes and run smoother shorter routes.

and you know this how ?????????????????

I'm thinking Ogletree will have a tough time being activated on game day.Your #3/#4 receivers have to contribute on special teams,Ogletree never has played special teams before(high school doesn't count).Or atleast I recall reading an article that stated as much somewhere along the way.

Because they stuck him in on some Madden game and he caught 4 for 280 and 2 TD's!

Get with the program.

I think fans tend to forget how complicated football playbooks are. Football isn't for dummies. An offensive player has to understand multiple formations, when to run them, what to do with audibles, etc.

Teams aren't just going to hand that responsibility to an undrafted free agent in the first year, unless they're really, really desperate.

Olgetree might have more talent than Hurd or even Austin. But I'm pretty sure he doesn't know the playbook as well as those two.

Ogletree had a good camp. He showed some speed and desire. He needs some playing time. Let's see if he has something.

I'd like to see him as a slot receiver. He's got the quickness.

Just a gut feeling. I think he is a Romo favorite. As for special teams, he would get some shots at KR.

Three games into the season and everyone is crying already... Geezus, they'll be fine. Romo said they didn't force anything, took what the defense gave them against Carolina.

I'm happy we landed Kevin Ogletree as an undrafted free agent, I was shocked to see him not get selected.

But he has barely played with Tony Romo.

Romo doesn't throw to bottom dwellers much during training camp and they only played one half together during the pre-season.

I know Romo admitted to liking what he saw from KO, but he wasn't talking about playing with him, just what he had seen of him.

And is being a back-up kick returner enough reason to be active for a game?

Ogletree isn't experienced enough to help on any of the other special teams units.

That isn't value.

We will probably call up Chauncey Washington from the practice squad because he can provide depth at halfback and help on every special teams group.

Hurd's stats:

2006: 5-75, 0 TD
2007: 19-314, 1 TD
2008: injured
2009: 1-7, 0 TD

Anyone think we would lose production if Ogletree was playing?

Bravo.

In PMs I was discussing with a friend how backups are somehow saviors unless they are high draft picks, and then they are busts if they are not All Pro their first year. Every player is great until they have a bad game and then they should be cut. Immediately, no questions asked.

It would be comical if it wasn't so sad.

You would've been crying crocodile tears if you were in the chat during the Panthers game. Jenkins, Scandrick, and Newman were cut and bums of the league in the first half, then All-Madden the second half.

One poster in particular went from saying that we "looked like a 3-13 team" to "definitely an 11 win team" within 2 quarters.

I almost had an aneurysm.

You see if he has something in garbage time. Not 3 weeks into the season when you're trying to win as many games as possible to position yourself for the postseason :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

We'd lose a ton, actually.

Sam Hurd is one of our best special teams players, he had three solo tackles week one alone.

Kevin Ogletree isn't even remotely close to what Hurd offers in that role.

And Ogletree isn't even remotely close to Hurd as a run blocker, either.

It isn't just about what you think a player might offer as a receiver, you have to look at everything he would need to do in order to be active on game day.

Ogletree isn't ready to do those things yet.
