I'd welcome him back with open arms, but I wouldn't go out of my way to make it happen.

Only want him back if he comes very cheap. He wore down late in the season and is fast approaching 30. If he gets his big money, does anyone here really think he plays through the dings and nicks? Not a chance! He'll be back to sitting out 3 games for minor things and probably would go on IR if he broke a finger like this year. You simply don't give big money long term deals to players that were kind of disappointments until their contract year. I don't care how big a year they had, they will revert back as soon as they get that money. The guys that won't let up after getting paid are the ones that gave it all they had and played through injuries from day one even though they were being paid peanuts. Those are the guys you resign.

I would be in favor of bringing him back if his price is reasonable. His value is greater than just his running. Sure he is a good all around player, good blocker, but he is 100% on board with what this team is about and 100% in synch with the scheme.

Trying to grab someone off the street or in the draft may be a wash talent-wise, but it may not replace the cohesion.

Love Murray, however, I hate the fact that every time he gets the ball I have to say a silent prayer than he doesn't fumble.

I always feel the next fumble is about to happen and I hate the feeling.

If one actually think Randall is better than Murray, or even as good, then he should also want these coaches replaced because they not only ran Murray into the ground, but they gave Randall and Dunbar almost zero chance to do anything...Dunbar wasn't used on 3rd downs or screens as anticipated, and Randall was getting 1 carry per game when Murray needed a blow....not even a series in the playoffs, usually just one play.

I'd bring Murray back for the 4 years, 16 million offerred...maybe I'd go as high as 5 million per year, but that's it....no more, and I wouldn't pay anyone else like AP more than that either. Our problem was not the running back. Murray is not holding us back. Keep an eye on mid to late round backs.

There's too many good RBs in FA and the draft this year to give any of them huge or non-incentive laden money. Add to that this is the primo destination for any of them due to this line.

I'm just curious how many of you don't want Murray back ? If so who do you want draft or FA?

Just heard the Man Himself on NFL network Emmitt Smith say Damarco needs to be resigned "he's good for the Chemistry of this Cowboys Team ", I agree totally, you have to ask yourself, would we even have gotten this far w/o him?
Only way I can see us not bringing him back is to move up on an Explosive Back

I do not want him back. He had all year to fix the way he was carrying the ball and he never did. He never protects the ball in a crowd, never. He is a careless dumb player. We can find another quality RB to run behind this awesome line. Jerry will resign DM though, you can count on that.

If he wants a big contract, No. Let him and his fumbles go.

We can have AP, and his fumbles, for cheap. He's faster, more explosive, and a bigger play maker.

Instead of blaming the Ref's. We should blame the turnover, I think our only turnover of the game on Murray.

No, if we can get AP, with this O-line, let the bum walk.

I want him back. It's not so much about the price, but the length of the contract. And I don't see any reason why we couldn't franchise him and sign Dez to a long term deal.

And yes, I would rather have Murray over Peterson. Peterson is basically useless on passing downs.

Even if AP doesn't come in if the money is between Murray and Dez then its got to be going to Dez...

It is a very difficult question to answer. It's not even totally about the money to me. It's really hard to know if he was great or if multiple other backs would have done even better behind his OLine with the same commitment to running.

We all know that he leaves some yards on the field at times, but he also gets some yards that other backs might not. I don't like the fumbling and he didn't seem to do anything about the way he carries the ball after the rash of fumbles earlier in the season.

Unfortunately, we really have no idea what the combination of Randle and Dunbar could do with more carries. They seemed to be about as successful as you could expect in the touches that they received, but I don't really want to start a season with one of them as the lead back. Fans seem enamored with Ryan Williams, but he is a complete wildcard. It is interesting that it was reported that he turned down multiple offers to going the 53 man roster of some other teams.

Some mid round draft picks could potentially do well as rookies, but you don't know who you might get in the draft. The lead-back position needs to be resolved before the draft.

I would be OK with the AP option. Yes, he is older than Murray, but he is well rested; whereas, the history of RBs that were over-used like Murray was this season, is not good in the following seasons.

Murray had 6 fumbles ...more than any RB in the NFL that includes rookies....

Really it's also Garrett's fault because when you watch games even though Murray sometimes does carry the ball go his side he doesn't secure it very well...also now teams know he fumbles dudes doomed....let him walk

But Murray also had more carries than any other running back in the NFL. I would look at his fumbles per carry and use that as a basis for comparison. If we gave him only 300 carries then how many fumbles does he have.

I think we all wish the question was Peterson or Murray....the problem is Peterson isn't able to enter into any discussions until he is reinstated which I think is around April or May.

With as much as Jerry loves Peterson I would imagine he would at least find out what options exist for this move. Of course the Vikings won't want to just let Peterson walk. Who would? So then you need to ask what Peterson would cost in both salary and trade....

You give Murray a modest offer again now after that playoff fumble, and you give him the chance to take it or leave it.

Scenario a) he takes the modest offer and we generally stand pat at RB
Scenario b) he doesn't take the offer and we wait to see what is available in free agency
Scenario c) We miss out on RBs in free agency and draft a RB
Scenario d) we miss out on RBs in free agency and the draft and stand pat with Randle, Dunbar, and Williams.

I have no problems with any of these.

As long as we build a better defense, we'll be okay. We could probably have leaned on the pass a lot more this year.
