CFZ How many more years will Dak be a starter?

He’ll start here for at least 2 more years and I’d imagine for longer considering the team keeps pushing his bonuses further out for salary cap relief.

If Dak wins a championship in the next 2 or 3 years, he’ll be a starter for 8-10 more seasons barring injury. If his performance keeps sliding, he’ll be a starter 3 more seasons max.

If drafting/changing QBs every "2-3" years were that successful and easy why is it that no team has ever done it?
Were in uncharted waters. Never before has a slightly better than avg QB been paid like superstar elite QB. This whole QB salary has defeated the purpose of the salary cap. I will say these kids being drafted are much more highly trained than they have in the past and they're teaching them to running a pro offense.

As long as the Cowboys are winning games and he’s giving us a chance he’ll continue to be the starter. The Joneses won’t be looking to replace him until they find someone better. Sorry haters!

As much as some of you would rather have a castoff that’s flamed out with multiple teams as our starter, that won’t be happening for a while. But when it does, and we go back to the days of the Ryan Leaf’s, Vinny’s and Bledsoe’s, that’s when you’ll find out that Dak wasn’t as bad as many of you thought he was.

I’m going to say max is 5 years. It could be much less, and I tend to believe it will be more like 3 more years. The reason I think this is his playing style and injury history.

QB’s that play way into their 30’s are very good at managing a disruptive pocket. They excel at picking apart defenses with precision and timing. That is not Dak’s game. He and the offense as a whole revolves around the rushing attack. Dak can complement a dominant run game by taking advantage of an overzealous defense.

The problem is he has lost noticeable speed and agility-and he was never a fantastic runner to begin with. He has poor take off speed and poor lateral agility (relatively speaking) which will make him a target in the pocket this year and any season that follows it.

I say all this knowing that if he and the team continue to rack up regular season wins (despite next to zero playoff success), he will get several more years to start.
Until a better one comes along. Sadly with jerry that may be a while.

It seems like San Francisco is in the midst of succeeding in this model.
How's that ...........you remember what they gave up to get Trey Lance? Purdy is starting by luck.......same as we did with Dak. So to say the 49ers are using a model to draft a new/different QB every 3-4 years is simply not true.

Is Brock Purdy way better than Vinny or Bledsoe?

They just discovered their system and team can get Mr Irrelevant to the NFCCG. Saying Purdy is just luck ignores that they are loaded on both lines of scrimmage with key playmakers. They do not need Garropolo or Lance-obviously-to make it deep into the playoffs

We haven’t seen near enough of Brock Purdy to know how good he is. He could be a flash in the pan for a few games for all we know. He had a great team around him, including a great defense. We’ll see how it goes for him this season.

San Fran has shown this approach will work if your defense and running game is sound.
Dude, the 49ers gave up the house to draft Trey Lance and then lucked into Purdy starting. Let's not act like Burdy being their starting QB was part of an unconventional model for the QB position.

EVEN if what you're saying holds any water.........so we can expect the 49ers to draft/change QBs again in 3-4 years?

Exactly......but hell, based on what the original post says, just swap him out after 3-4 years regardless

Not having a QB has crippled their chances at winning a SB. What success are we talking about here?

Their window is just about closed.

Who knows? It’s not a model that even they are going to sell to the veterans of the squad. It’s obviously working though. It just proves that the QB is not nearly as important to a team that has a dominant defense and running game. You need a guy that won’t poop himself on the big stage and refuses to throw it into heavy traffic.

They have been to two consecutive NFCCG and were in the Super Bowl a few years back. I don’t think they care about whatever window you are speaking about.
