How many of you played football?

Serious question.. how many of you still moves your body trying to help our guys avoid or make a tackle? My wife laughs at me because I tense up and duck as if I am trying to avoid contact sometimes.

Played football but much more basketball and played baseball into my late 20’s. But I only watch football these days.

Played football all through school etc. it helped mold me who I am today, self discipline, grit, the whole nine yards. Also boxed. Played from pop Warner to flag football up to senior in college at OSU, before they got big. Lol played tight end. Linebacker etc in high school.

every boy growing up should be exposed to playing the sport on some level in my opinion. But I feel like those days have long gone by for sure. Lol

Through HS junior year - then went baseball full-time. Umpired baseball and refereed basketball at the NCAA level for many seasons. My son quit football in the 7th grade. I was never so happy and convinced of his intelligence. He went baseball and managed to be a 4-year scholarship college player.

"Playing with balls is fun!"

I used to be a very competitive amateur racquetball player back in the 80s, now at my age I am a champion pocket billiards player.

Played amateur football in Europe from late teens to late 20s. Was a backup WR on a very good team, playing mostly on special teams. Had a brief career as an assistant coach. Was a team GM for c.4 years. Then I officiated for 5-6 years while also working as a volunteer for the league. Ended up being Commissioner of an amateur league with for more than a decade. Difficult jiob -but I think I was good at it - league went from 6-7 teams to 22 teams under my tenure. The politics gets you down after a while - once the league got to a certain size you start getting an influx of people who try to extract money/income from the sport rather than focusing on developing it further.

Have been coaching youth soccer past 3-4 years with some success - had never been involved in soccer before. Has re-ignited my coaching bug. Have now booked myself into a football coaching course so I can get my football coaching license again and will look at returning to football in the near future - probably at grassroots level.

Played offense and defense. Never came off the field until half time or end of game. At least in my later years.

I did some boxing in college. It was psychologically more draining than football. Never seen the kind of drop out rates in boxing than any other sport I participated in.

Didn't play football until jr year in HS. was a soccer player growing up because mom wouldn't let me play football. Also played baseball and was a state placer in wrestling in HS. Anyway, was a K and WR in HS. Ended up all city and all conference at both positions my sr year. Had and opportunity to play football and baseball (D1AA back then for football). Quit after a few weeks of football because i realized that i was never going to play and baseball was my real love.

Depends on the situation. If it's a receiver across the middle, about to get crushed, my body wants to get in the fetal position.

There's always Madden.

Yep, l like alot of others, move my body in the mornings trying to pull and stretch my back and spine just to be able give up bc my back and knees hurts so bad and are so stiff, l pull and stretch so l can move to sit up and take pills to help w pain. That's what most football players go thru after playing years of football, do they regret it playing the game they love,
No but for alot of players life after football is not all sunshine and roses

Played RB through high school. Wanted to play at college (would have warmed the bench best case), but my hockey coach made it clear I had to choose. Chose hockey. I was way better at hockey so easy choice!

I was a back-up Qb...... we'd have been state champs if coach had put me in.

Any of you looked into time travel?

It's weird though because I have the reactions of an offensive player when we're on offense and a defensive player when we're on defense. It's like even my instincts don't care about the other guys.. LOL!

When one of our DL or LBs is about to destroy a QB, my body goes into "NO, YOU FRIGGIN' IDIOT!!!" mode, and my hands immediately go up to both sides of my head.
