How many truly quality starting players do we have?

At the very least we need to have nine new starters, which is virtually impossible to do in one year even if you spend every dollar you have in FA and hit on your first four picks in the draft.

Defense: Overshown, Kendricks, Luifau, Bland, Butler, Lewis. Offense: Beebe, Smith, Ceedee. Special teams: Aubrey, Thomas, Flournoy, Luepke, Turpin. So 14 starters in all on the 53 man roster.

Basically we are going to have to count on Bass and Richards to start next season. Find A RB and a WR.
Get two DTs and At least one LB plus at least one better Safety. Six new players and hope some of the young people step up

So we need about 12 new starters next year. That's a tall task. We at least need 12 contributors day 1.

Steele might be the worst OT in the NFL
He’s down the list quite a ways but OT play around the league isn’t all that great. Steele probably isn’t even the worst starting OT on the Cowboys. Honestly I’d say he’s more below average than the train wreck people make him out to be. He’s the type of guy you can cover up if the rest of your OL is playing well, but that certainly isn’t the case in Dallas.

The Cowboys have talent and definitely some top tier guys at their positions. You just can't have superstars at every position though.

Quality to me is a pretty broad term that I would define as players that are atleast capable of being average NFL starters. We don't have quality players at both OT positions, RB, and 1tech. The rest of the positions I think you can argue when healthy are mostly atleast average. Though I could be swung on Safety and maybe WR2. Wilson has played poorly this year but is it more of a one off down year? Brandin Cooks I would describe as a solid number 2 but he just hasn't been healthy enough to make any impact.

Next year we open potential holes through free agency at RG, WR2, 3tech, and maybe DE. That's a lot to solve for with the other needs as well. We need to prioritize getting better in the trenches on both sides of the ball and add a dynamic player at RB and find a capable WR2.
That's just an excuse for lack of talent.

it isnt the talent, its the terrible braindead coaching and the players are incredibly dumb

I'm not saying this to be mean but they just simply do not have intelligence to play winning football thats why you need a good coach but the coaching staff is also incredibly dumb
And it's the talent, lack thereof.

Draftin7g in the top 10 next year is going to be a tough spot. We could grab OL and hope for the best. Grab DL and hope for a run stopping player. Grab QB if top 5 pick and be stuck with a huge Dak contract. Seems if we are drafting from 7-10 spot it might be better to trade down to the 12 to 15.

ON offense:
Dak
CD
Ferguson
Tyler Smith

Cooper looks promising.

ON defense:
Micah
Diggs
Bland
Overshown

Kendricks is good now but is getting old

KInd of on the fence about Osa and Gholston but I think only rotational players not quality starters

Kneeland looks promising
Sam Williams also

So on offense we have four maybe five

On defense we have four maybe eight at best
Why don't you just mention every player we have?
Your premise was exceptional players. You seem to have an inclusive approach, rash rascal.

roster is not as bad as you think, if you bring in a competent coach you will see the difference but Jerry wont do that because it will upstage him
We already have a competent coach, dear boy.
We need a winner who will inspire fear and loyalty in the players.

7. Overshown, Dak, CeeDee, Parsons. Tyler, Diggs, and Bland.
The most worrying aspect of that list is that by 2026 only Overshown will be on a Rookie Deal.
Parsons wanting Edge money (40 per), Tyler wanting LT (28-30) and Bland (20) would put us into an extremely top heavy roster.....these players need to play upto the contracts.
But Jerry loves his stars.

We have enough talent to field another winning team if we hit in the draft, actually partake in FA, and the most important hiring the HC.

I am not sure what you mean by "quality". But Lewis is a quality player. Not an all-pro, but he is solid. DLaw is a quality player.

Ferguson is a "quality" player. These are not true "impact" players, but they are good players who contribute towards winning.

The problem Dallas has is not that they are without quality players. They are without quality where it counts. The offensive and defensive lines are short on quality players. There are not quality running backs at all. They have 1 quality receiver, which is not enough in the NFL, especially if you have no running game.

Dak is a quality player, but he was not having a great year. I think it is too early to say he is "washed up" or anything like that. Last year he had an outstanding season by most accounts. He is too young to be washed up like Aaron Rodgers.
The injuries hurt Dallas a lot. Go back to all their losses and watch how teams picked on whoever was replacing Bland. I think Sam Williams would have helped.

They lost depth in the offseason, then injuries, and Jerry did nothing in free agency.

It's hard to evaluate the individuals, since the team is so bad, but Diggs and Bland haven't been a factor at all. The interior of both sides of the ball is just terrible. You essentially need 3 starters on the O-line, 3 on the d-line, all new linebackers, and a new safety. That's being conservative. You also need 2 running backs, 1-2 WRs, and some depth. This is a 3-4 year rebuild, but you can't do much because 2 players are eating up 60% of the cap.

The drafting has been terrible lately, too.
