How Much Did The Cowboys Miss Roy Williams(#38)

We didn't miss him at all.

One tackle by a run-stuffing strong safety on either play against the Ravens and we're heading to Minny this weekend.

and maybe a bad read by a poor coverage strong safety vs washington or tampa and he gets beat for a td and we lose either of those games.

Hard to say without identifying specific plays, but for the most part, we played this year with weaker coverage safeties than Roy Willaims. But Roy's definitely a better option in run support than his backups.

I hope we have a solid rookie starting at ss next season.

I sort of do, too. Hate to risk everything on a rookie, so I wouldn't mind having Roy back for one more year of insurance, but we sure didn't miss him much this year. The Baltimore plays aside--it's interesting that he might have made those plays after all the heat he took on this board this offseason--but *any* safety, and several linebackers should have been able to make those particular plays.

His 90 tackles were missed. Same with his presence on the field. I'm almost certain that Campbell doesn't truck RW the way he trucked Watkins.

The majority of Roy's tackles were against receivers that had burned him, he wasn't the presence in the box that people believed. No sacks and no tackles for a loss last year. He pointed the finger at his fellow players and he lost their respect during that final horse collar incident. He was a first down allowing machine. He did nothing when he was in this year - in large measure because the coaching staff was trying to limit his liability in coverage. Both safeties were pretty hobbled by the Baltimore game, but Roy wouldn't have made any difference in the last 2 contests. Another overpaid underperformer that needs to go.

He would have definetely helped us in run support.

DEFINETELY.

But he has been so awful against the pass im not sure Keith Davis didn't make up for what we lacked in that department.

Yeah, they missed him like a dog misses fleas. The guy isn't good: AT ALL. Hasn't been for two seasons at least. Time to move on..........

I think that Roy is a liability and should be cut, unless he stays, in which case he is an asset to this team that should only make them stronger.
