I'd wear Ditka if I could find one. He's a hard #@) but I like the guy.

You could buy a custom jersey with his name and number on it.

I would wear a Nate Jones jersey over a Quincy Carter or Drew Bledsoe jersey.

79- Harvey Martin, Erik Williams
80- Tony Hill, Alvin Harper
83- Golden Richards - I added him to the list
84- Doug Cosby, Jay Novacek, Patrick Crayton
83- Golden Richards - I added him to the]
86- Butch Johnson, Eric list[/BBjornson- Butch was one of my favorites
88- Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin, Antonio Bryant
94- Charles Haley, DeMarcus Ware - Haley was a hired gun

How is Charles Haley a hired gun, but Jay Novacek and Preston Pearson are not? All three guys were veterans brought in to help the team. Haley stuck around for 5 seasons. Would have lasted longer if he didn't have back problems. I don't think of any of them as hired guns.

Yeah, he may not have been an original Cowboy, but he spent four years as a Cowboy and caught a TD in SuperBowl VI against the Dolphins. Thats gotta count for something!

I really like him. I still couldn't do it.

Chuck Howley is probably the only exception I could make to this. If someone like LaDanian Tomlinson or Peyton Manning came here and still had success like they currently have I might add them to the list, but it's just a deep rooted bias.

Plus, he was a coach here for a long time under Coach Landry. If you ever hear him talk, he always goes the extra mile to talk about Coach Landry and how big of an influence he was on himself and the NFL. How great he was as a person and a Coach. Also really gives nice props to former Dallas Cowboy players etc. I just like him a lot regardless.

I like Ditka a lot. I might even wear a throw back Jersey of him with the Bears. He's pretty cool with me.

I only buy old school jerseys. They cost the same as current to do custom and I know it will never go out of style.

I even have a Mark Moseley Jersey. :ducks: I really do.

In todays FA era its hard for me to justify spending money on myself for a players jersey that might not be around in a few years. If that player makes his stamp on a team (say Ray Lewis, Tom Brady, Peyton, etc) that would encourage me to buy a current jersey (if I was a fan for any of those teams).

Old School all the way. I know what they have done I know their ups and downs. And they will always be legends for my team, and the same with yours. For all we know Ware, Witten, etc, will be gone in a year or so and same with Campbell, Landry or whomever.

Now if one of my nephews (or if I had kids) wanted a current players jersey, I would shell out the cash. But thats just me.

I can wear college jersies of guys who didn't play for the Cowboys, but that's it. To wear any other jersey I would have to either have lost a bet, or getting a free ticket to a game from a friend and wearing something as a thank you to him. Even then it better be someone I really like.

Not I. For example, I have an Earl Campbell throw back from the Oilers. I also have a Decon Jones from the Rams. I am a Cowboy fan first and foremost but I am a pretty big football fan in general. I just like and appriciate some of the older players that I consider to be great regardless of team or era. I do agree with you on the fact that I have to really like them as players though.

My era growing up, when the Cowboys were bigger than life, was the late 70's to early 80's. Unfortunately, that's when we got close and came up short more often than not. But I still identify the closest with the teams/players of that era. The early to mid 90's was awesome, but I would've loved it even more if the Cowboys from 78-83 would've won three Super Bowls.

I guess I lean more towards the "New" School side. I definitely could see myself with a Marion Barber jersey(my wife's favorite player).

If only that had been Roy Williams.

Teague laid a good lick on him but Roy would have taken his head off.
