How Soon Would You Take La'el Collins?

La'el Collins is a legitimate top 15-20 talent who has dropped due to either an incredibly unfortunate circumstance, or was involved in a Murder of a pregnant woman. There is no middle ground here.

With that being said, how soon would you be willing to take the player if at all? For me I would strongly consider him in the 3rd and I'm drafting him in the 4th if he's there. It's a risk in the 4th, but not many players in the 4th aren't anyways. So how soon would you take him, if at all?

Not specifically speaking about the Cowboys, but if he makes it thru Friday without being drafted I'll bet he doesn't last long Saturday.

Too much we don't know to answer, but I'd have interest in him from the 2nd on down if he's not clearly implicated in anything.

I personally would spend a 3rd for him if it were my choice but I'd say most if not all will hold off until Day 3 to use a throw away pick on him just incase his situation turns against him.

2nd might be too rich considering the other talent thats likely to be available at 60, but at 91, I would think long and hard about drafting him. He would solidify this OL for years and if he reached his potential, you could potentially be looking at a GOAT OL.

"Experts" on twitter are saying he's not getting drafted at all.

But I'd take him in the 5th

Teams are looking into what is going on. If he is still there Sunday, I have a feeling he will be spending life in prison

I've seen those rumors also. I doubt he goes undrafted though. Some team will take a flyer on him. I expect he will start getting more attention in the 4th-5th sometime.

If he's around come Saturday, he is in trouble. Football will be the least of his worries. It will begin to look like teams know more than what is being put out for the general public.

Why? Is there any evidence to suggest that he actually did it?

There isn't, but he can thank that idiot Hernandez for the scare it's giving the league. I was down to pick Collins at #27 before the news and would still take a chance because it sounds like he wasn't in town when the incident occurred. However it could be a hired gun case and this thing could turn quick, Dallas may back off on him after all the heat they got for Hardy.

I don't know, they are said to be extremely interested in Frank Clark and possibly DGB also, so I wouldn't rule him out for the bad PR. I think the A. Hernandez thing probably is the biggest scare factor at play here.

At some point the risk of taking him is equal to or less than another prospect at that pick. 3rd or 4th Rd and I would roll the dice.

It's kind of an all or nothing deal. If he's implicated, you can't take him. If you think he's not, he was a value pick after the first 10 picks of the first round. If you really don't know, I guess you don't do anything as long as you have players you like in front of you, but it's awfully tempting.

Probably won't be Dallas who takes the chance, though. Not just because we're one team in 32, but we've already taken a bit of heat with Hardy and with Brent. Throw in the Peterson speculation, and it's getting to be a fair amount of heat.

Screw that we've taken so much heat no one cares any more.

I think you're right. Might as well take all the PR hits together and then recover later. DGB and Frank Clark aren't angels and the Cowboys are said to be pretty interested in both. They can always spin it with the 2nd chance shtick and I don't think Jerry believes in bad press anyways lol.

I don't know if I would take him, but contrary to popular opinion, I think he'll go on Friday.

I don't see how since the murder happened while he was in Chicago......He's not the one who did it

What am I missing here?

Could have hired someone and if she was pregnant with his child, that could be seen as motive. 18+ years of child support from a soon to be wealthy man is enough to make teams worry, especially with a premium pick.
