How things have changed.

Out of sheer knowledge of what a solid LT can do, yes I can say we are better and mean it definitively.

I am not just trying to be contrary. I hope you don't think that. I am as concerned and interested in this topic as you seem to be.

Point of fact, He hasn't played the position in college or the pros yet. If he is better than Free, which both you and I believe, at that position then we can both believe that position along the line will be improved. To say we are definitively better without any proof is wishful think at best, and a fallacy at worst. By fallacy I mean you are saying just because something may happen it is a fact. (Appeal to probability).

Your "sheer" knowledge of the what a solid OT can provide is irrelevant until we know for sure what our LT can do.

I appreciate the debate. I'm curious to know what lineman you see coming out next year. I hope we can swing two good interior lineman.

Whew. I was just about to call a politician a bad name.

Funny.....imagine if we did draft a OL in the first......

Then there would be threads complaining about how we have no CB's
They'd say how we got beat late in games by the pass the year before and did nothing about it. Don't get me wrong the OL has me concerned as does all aspects of the team that I perceive as needing upgraded but I am happy in the fact they've chosen to at least address the secondary with a little more bravado this year.

I used to be a poster on here but in April after the draft i said that Dallas had made a MASSIVE mistake by NOT drafting an OL man and was hounded off this site by Silverbear and many others for saying it would come back to haunt them that they'd spend over $100m on CB and a $1 on the line. Now 4/5 months down the line it seems everyone is saying what i said months ago. How times have changed. No one agreed with me then but i bet you all do now.

My prediction then was with a weak OL we would be 4-12. This i stick by. Who thinks different now?

Risen, is this you?

I think you're too thin skinned for internet message boards in general if you got "hounded off" a G-rated forum.

Yeah.

I'm going with this.

1. OL still needs work.

2. OL injuries are not predictable, and we could have blown our wad on an OG who got a high ankle sprain.

3. The secondary will always be a priority over interior OL for me, and our secondary was awful.

I wish we could have addressed both, if we couldn't, we clearly addressed the most important area for us, the defensive secondary.

He just got named the starting guard. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2012/08/report-steelers-name-david-decastro-starting-right-guard/

Cowboys fans are going to compare DeCastro and our o-line play to Claiborne and our secondary play for a while. But the draft wasn't our only avenue to shore-up the interior OL.

Did you actually read the article? He moved into the starting five after injuries to several OL. The guard in front of DeCastro was moved to tackle.

Based on this logic, I guess Arkin and Dockery have beaten out Costa and Livings.

You would be right if week 1 was tomorrow but it is not. That was the whole problem with your arguement. The team did address the interior OL in free agency and still had several months to continue to address it if need be. The draft is not the final chance to upgrade your roster. There will be surprise cuts and opportunities to make a trade. My advice to you is to be patient. You actually could be in a win-win situation here if you play your cards right. If they make a move, you can say you called for it months ago, but so did alot of people. If they start the season with Costa at center, you can come here and say I told you so after he fails miserably.

If I see Costa pushed back into Romo one more time, I'am going to . . . I'am going to . . . I'am going to . . . I'am going to, say a pray every night to delivery Romo from Costa. That no good, skum sucking, @%!*%#.

Sorry, I get this way when I remember last season and Costa.

4-12 thats pretty bad our o-lone cant be that bad. 8-8 sounds more like reality

We've yet to play so much as a down of preseason football.

But all right -- hurry it up. Get in your "I told you so" schtick before the games are played and it kills your dire prophecies.

I'm with you. If I see him pushed back into Romo I'm going to string together a bunch of cuss words about politicians in this thread.

That'll show em.

Congrats rodd94, but this has been going on for the better part of a decade and a half, so if you are just now coming to this realization you are a bit late. As for the other members here who argued with you, at some point you just have to realize some people on here live on hopes, what ifs, and Jerry's snake oil (with a heavy dose of the latter) not reality, and then you have to decide if you want to waste your time arguing with the dog with the cracked ribs, broken leg and missing eye who keeps going back to owner Jerry for more.

Wait, so we were 8-8 last year with a worse OL than this, but it means this year we're going to go 4-12? And you wonder why someone blasted you for this?

I'm sorry, but I don't think things have "changed." Anyone predicting 4-12 for this team is going to get blasted. Jimmy Johnson, yes that Jimmy Johnson, just predicted us at 12-4. What do you see that he doesn't?

I'm in between those numbers but I don't see us below 8-8 under any circumstance.

I agree, if we are 8-8 or below, I will literally be irate.

If some of these vets get healthy on the OL (Livings, Bern) and then the vet additions (G,C) supply insurance, I think we will be OK!

4-12, 9-7, does it really matter?

Yeah, it does. If they go 4-12 without an inordinate amount of injuries then you need to think about blowing the team up.

9-7 you tweek and reload.
