How to fix this OL?

Exactly. They can stack the box with impunity to stop Zeke. We're doing nothing with play calling to make them pay for that.
Why can’t more fans see this? Blame Dak, the O line, or the receivers, but the main problem with this O is a basic and simple offense with extremely predictable play calls. We all know when it’s a run or a pass. So does the other team. It’s so much harder to make plays when the Defense knows if you are running or passing.

See that at the end? That's a ? because I don't know how to fix this but it is broken because they do not seem to be able to put many good plays together on a drive.

So, is this a coaching issue or a player issue? The only guy playing up to speed is Martin and the second best OL is Looney in a replacement role. Big Smitty does not look right, Williams gets overpowered and I don't know if Collins is a G or T or either. I think he was promised the T gig for the dough but he is not the least bit impressive at RT.

Is Prescott taking too much time to read and release or taking off on a run too soon? Elliott looked like he did in that first Giants game when he was a rookie, running into the butts of his OL.

Here is the real problem. The DC's left on the schedule have seen the same thing WAS did to them and are going to replicate that and put the game on the QB, OL and receivers. They're not going to let the RB beat them.

So, is this a problem that can be resolved this season, with these players, or is this going to take changing some of them out in the off season? Most of us agree Williams needs a year of strength training to stay at G or move him out to T and let Collins walk if he doesn't want to play G. And what the hell is that about? Players play where they're told to play to best benefit the team.

My biggest concern is Big Smitty because he is really inconsistent and I think the DC's and DE's are picking up on some weaknesses on film and exploiting them. He used to be a top 3 LT but something's not right with him.

mr CC--- I heard smitty's back is ailing him....this i heard on talkin' Cowboys....you can see smitty cant bend down on some plays....so he is getting burned....but Garrett refused to say anything but smitty is healthy....coach spin...Smitty back is in pain and backs get worse not better usually..we need another LT soon i bet?

Bingo!! Coaching matters!! We have the most predictable Offense in football. Our HC and OC are our main problem. Until that changes we will never win Playoff games.

Linehan is the #1 problem on the team going back to last year. It's fair to put much of that back on Garrett, as Linehan is his guy under him, but with a change at OC, we could be winning more games immediately.

It's past time to can both those turkeys, but the pick up of Cooper tells me that Jerry has made his course correction for the season.

Tomorrow.
It's a beautiful dream I have.

This is a crazy thought but could Smith be moved into the guard position.

Wait for Fred to get back.

Wait for Williams to put ~20 pds on over the offseason.

Hope Tyron gets back to form.

Well, he looked like he could coach an OL.

There just isn't any finesse that will fix this year's line problems. Their lanes of recovery, and with great lateral movement abilities, have been bull rushed to death.

This year's version has become soft and attempt to compensate by reaching and grabbing a lot.

Nothing gets better until Linehan, Dak, and the wideouts can beat man coverage without help on the outside. The run game isn't going to beat 8 and 9 defenders in the box.

Same problem as last year. And last I heard, we are cutting the one guy from last year who was effective in beating that coverage - Butler. Linehan still doesn't get it.
Butler should have been cut last year we couldn’t cut that guy quick enough

That’s the way it goes when a offense is limited by its QB why can’t people come to grips with this

Any Bengals fan can tell you This is a HORRIBLE HIRE! Just because he was around for 24 yrs doesn’t mean he was good

Paul was the o-line and run game coordinator for the Bengals, who ranked 20th or worse in yards per carry in every season since 2006 (sans 2014). The Cowboys apparently think 32 sacks is too many, so they hire a guy whose units allowed 40 and 41 sacks over the last 2 years

So in short, he can’t judge talent, his run-blocking scheme stinks, and he’s been inconsistent (at best) at protecting the QB.

This coach is not good for us I believe the Bengals were the last in offense of line this person is not good for the position

I don't expect any change on the OL this year unless Frederick comes back 100% late in the season.

Looney has filled in admirably though, he might net a 3rd rounder come draft day. He was originally a 4th rounder.

actually read the post which started this thread - that's called ignorance - as in ignoring reality - it's the nature of play haters - they like it like that

Maybe a new coach can entice Callahan to come back. The fact that this team picked Linehan, a guy run out of several jobs and not widely regarded as good in ANY way, over a guy regarded by some as the best OL coach EVER... It's unfathomable. Then again, this is the Cowboys and nothing ever has to make sense, nor does it usually.

But hey, most valuable franchise and a massive, impartial stadium that's been a boon for outsiders in every event hosted. Yay money.

We have the worst coaching staff in the league. I'm sure Callahan had a lot to do with us losing against the Skins. Maybe a wagered a bet that you put 10 men in the box the Boys would still run the ball. He won.

He's probably laughing right now as we speak.

No offense line in the NFL can give Dak the time to evaluate the field on his "SLOW" level.....dude need at least 8 seconds to decide and finally throw the ball....Jerry better talk to the Chinese and buy a part of the Chinese WALL then maybe Dak will be able to finally have enough time to throw the ball over 4 yards....

Predictability kills an Offense! It is that simple. 90% of the time I can call if it’s a run or pass by our O, so can the other teams Defensive Coordinator!

Exactly my point. Stack the box for Zeke and play 7 in coverage when they know Dak's passing. Every time! Just watch what the Rams do. They run multiple plays from under center. The defense doesn't know whether it's pass or run, they have to wait to see if Goff actually gives it to Gurley. By the time Goff drops back and fakes it to Gurley then turns to look upfield, the ball is out shortly after that. Because he's looking at 3 WRs vs 4 DBs. The other 7 are frozen in the box. Goff has a short window, but he does a good job with it. Dak isn't even given that chance.

This OL isn’t what it was in 2014 or 2016.

And the loss of Frederick and Smiths injuries which appear to have a lasting effect coupled with our Rookie LG Connors struggles and Collins at RT.

No doubt there are effects.

But if Travis returns ,Connor develops and Collins adjust to position we actually are still loaded in talent on OL.

I can apply if's to a lot of OL's. For some reason, they do not want to flip Williams and Collins and I hope it's not because Booger promised Collins he'd be a T because I heard he doesn't want to play G.

If Big Smitty's back worsens, this is going to be a real cluster. Although, if his back is really flaring up and the DE's know that, could it be much worse sliding Williams over? Facing DE's with his athleticism might be easier than 330lb DT's.
