Agreed. Nothing really to lose. But, you gain the unknown. Also adds some, how good can this guy get excitement. What can this guy do in crunch time. His consistent can this guy be. We already know with Dak. It’s time IMOI dont believe Dak is our biggest problem by any means and many will say that it may take us years to find someone even as good as him. That misses the point though, Dak has had a career and achieved nothing of note, also there is no sign of the Cowboys being close in the next few years anyway so who cares our qb is? May as well be a cheap option for a while.
Nothing wrong with preparing for the future. I don't know that I would trade a bunch of premium picks to move up far in the draft next year, but if there's a great college QB around where the Cowboys pick I wouldn't think twice about making the selection. Defensive help may look like the most immediate need, but you only get so many opportunities to draft your QB of the future. This isn’t an anti Dak post. I think every qb has games like last night. The difference is their defense and coaching isn’t atrocious and maybe it can help them still win.
I think Dak is a top 10 qb but like any other guy outside the top 5….one who needs help around him to win.
Reality is though. He’ll be 34 next year. With one year remaining on his deal. The window to win with him is closing… and closing fast.
In a deep qb draft….Shouldn’t we start to prepare for life after Dak? Consider drafting a guy and letting him sit for a year?
There is nothing more irrelevant than football stats.Nothing wrong with Dak. Plus, he definitely is a top 5 QB right now. His stats prove it.
Dak is:
• #1 leading in passing yards (1,381) after 5 games.
• Tied #2 in passing TDs (9).
• Tied 3rd least in INTs (3; both interceptions against the Buccaneers were Ferguson's fault as both passes went right through both hands, only to be tipped and intercepted).
• #4 best QBR (79.2).
just for entertainment i have no interest to going back to Chutch Stoerner eraThis isn’t an anti Dak post. I think every qb has games like last night. The difference is their defense and coaching isn’t atrocious and maybe it can help them still win.

How about Patrick Mohomes? Not saying it would definitely happen. But, if the Chiefs had the same thought process they never get him. If the Bills have the same thought process about Fitzpatrick they don’t have Josh Allen. It is an unknown. But, we know what we have now.just for entertainment i have no interest to going back to Chutch Stoerner era
You’re right. I feel like I’ve been too hard on Jerry. He’s trying his best. It’s rather difficult to get 53 first ballot hall of famers in their prime on the same team. You guys suck. Jerry is working on finding 53 guys to carry him; that takes time.
Maybe Jerry will think about getting a really good backup quarterback. He can go in against good teams, and when he gets us really far ahead, they can put dak back in to snatch the victory. Because we all know it's not dak's fault. *wink, wink*
10, 11 years, or maybe 20 or 30 trying to find guys to carry dak isn't too long. We might even win one more playoff game with the dakster.......go dak.....You’re right. minton in worse. Im a UTenn alum. milton has no accuracy or touchTime to move on was now, last week, last month, last year, 5 years. He should have never ever been tagged or given a second contract and even worse a 3rd contract. He was never the guy. And will never be the guy. Its time to consider Howell or Milton. Can't be any worse
Top 15 at best and only if he's playing bottom of the barrel teams which DC has been doing for years. He chokes when he gets near a playoff scenario. His first year in the league was his best and he hasn't been decent since. All that said, the DC will not sniff the playoffs without a top 3 defense to make up for Daks inaccuracies. What's hilarious is as BHays points out, you can argue Dak all day however the true problem is our idiot GM and son. Until they are gone the DC will be losers no matter what.Nothing wrong with Dak. Plus, he definitely is a top 5 QB right now. His stats prove it.

To win a SB with Dak you need a top 10 run game and a top 5-10 defense
Problem is that you are paying Dak 60 million so you cannot build a top 10 run game and defense with a cap and a moron at GM
That is the problem that Dak stans can’t comprehend

Cowboys don't have any draft picks for next year 2027. Not until 2028 do they have any draft picks. You're not addressing what OP said. It's not a bash Dak thread, the fact is Dak will be 34 at the beginning of next season, father time gets to all players. Why not start thinking of the future now? Jerry isn't building a great team around Dak anytime soon.
Yeah, they just magically appear out of thin air. There is nothing more irrelevant than football stats.
