100% agree. I was thinking the same thing, around a 5th. Especially when you have multiple 4th, 5th, and up. You can take a swing because on paper there's something there. And if they flop, no worries.
Not every draft, but there are inconsistency with the 2nd round. It's almost like it's treated as a "gamble pick." But not always. Same Williams, Diggs, and Lawrence were very good picks. Me personally, I'm drafting the first 3 rounds planning on them getting plugged right in, no projects. In hopes to sign to a 2nd contract.
Most of the time, however, the "gamble" didn't pan out with guys like Hill, Conner Williams, Awuzie, Jaylon Smith, Gregory, and many more. All were projects for one reason or another. I'd argue a round too early. And this feels like Jerry Jones gambling with his money machine toy with no repercussions minus pissed off fans and a long history of mediocrity. I truly believe he REALLY wants to win, no matter what I really do. Unfortunately he's not felt the burn of losing because there's no repercussions and it's mostly fueled on ego.
